do you want to pm me your address and i'll send you my copy?

nate is quick to get rid of shit if it means a new metroid speedrun. i wonder what the total value is of all the things you have lent.

Duh... I should have thought of that, besides the fact that I'm pretty sure you were one of the ones trying to figure it out in the first place.

Don't mind me.

Segment 27

1:48 save. Quoting what I put in the video description: Segment 28 is basically a LOT of fighting so I'm not sure how difficult it'll be yet, but 29/30/31 should hopefully be pretty quick after I get that. There's only 5 segments left, so almost there.. D:

very nice to see the run getting serious progress.
if the next segments come up consistently, i might wait until all of them are up to watch them all in 1 go.

also, it looks like the disc won't survive the speedrun at this point lol.

lol... I'm not leaving the disc channel for as long as possible since the loads won't slow down that way, so as long as it doesn't freeze I guess. I have to sacrifice backing up my saves but eh, worth it to not have to deal with all that crap again.

edit: I'm going to be completely obliterating craztad's seg28, apparently... I just did a crappy run through it to see my time and I have 1:54, to his 2:12... for comparison, at the start of the segment, I had 1:48 and he had 2:04, so that's 2 minutes gained from this one segment (and it wasn't even a good run). That puts my final time at 2:14 if I never improve on his segs again, and I will. I might get 2:10 after all...

holy fuck... I saved not one, not two, but THREE MINUTES in this one segment. I got a much better seg 28 than I was expecting to given the circumstances.

So anyway...

gah

Well... that's ONE way to save all of the troopers. (Nice touch with getting the token for that in the run, by the way.) Never knew you could get up that first wall like that.

And that Commander battle MUST be why the Pirates fear Samus so much! Completely owned!

I must say, a 2:15 or less time from where you are now would not surprise me. All you have is Ridley, the Valhalla (and the codes on the Homeworld after), and Phaaze left right?

craztad got 2:32, I'm 19 minutes ahead (he was saved at this point at 2:12). I am guaranteed to get 2:13 for my final time, at the most. I'm hoping I can save a few more minutes across the rest of the run and get sub 2:10.

My planned awesome strategy didn't work because the game will not let you kill Ridley until he lands... oh well.

yeah I'd probably have 30 and 31 done by now if it wasn't for the loading crap. hope the disc'll last long enough to finish the run.

Segment 30

Save: 2:01. Now past the 2-hour mark...

edit: gonna reencode it, vob split messed up part of the video.

edit 2: reuploaded, link fixed. would've had it up earlier if I hadn't fallen asleep...

edit 3: wow, just noticed, I've now got a 20 minute lead on craztad. That puts my current finish time at 2:12, sub-2:10 is starting to look unlikely but basically I'd need to save 3 minutes on Phaaze alone. Oh well.

Yeah, not quite sure if you'd be able to pull that off unless you find some crazy tactics to use on the AU at the end. Everything else moves rather quickly on normal difficulty, so that's about the only place I can think of where you'd be able to save that kind of time.

Although all you have now is the codes and then Phaaze right? Codes take what, two minutes tops? That will give you about seven for Phaaze if my math is right. I just looked at some times I had written down when I was doing runs of this back when the game came out, and from what I could tell eight minutes was my fastest Phaaze time for normal difficulty. So I wouldn't put it past you to find a way to get that down to seven, because that was three years ago and probably before we had found some of the strategies for Phaaze.

It's going to be tight either way though, and no matter what time you come up with the entire run is going to be nothing short of amazing from the few segments I've watched at this point. I too will probably end up viewing the whole thing once it's completely finished.

Segment 31

One to go! :O Save: 2:04

craztad was saved here at 2:24, he took 8 minutes on Phaaze. I'm pretty confident I can knock off at least one minute, maybe two if I'm lucky, and I'd need another half a minute or so for 2:09. I'd guess that my finish time is going to be 2:10, maybe 2:11 if I'm unlucky or 2:09 if I am.

craztad's last segment was pretty sloppy so you should easily knock off 1 minute. Im looking very forward to the last segment Dancing

this has been a long time in the making. i forgot if the run started in 2007 or 2008.
the final time is going to be 1.5 times faster than my best time. looks like i'll need to improve it soon.

Well segment 32 has been stressing the hell out of me with the incredibly random aurora unit fight plus having all of my stuff deciding to fail on me right now (game disc, DVD recorder, and nunchuk were all crapping out)... but on the bright side

THAT JUST FUCKING HAPPENED. Run is finished in 2:09!!!!!!! Will get the final segment up soon but damn I just can't believe I actually got 2:09. I'd been thinking this whole time that 2:10 was the best I could get... damn.

A FIVE minute Phaaze??? This I've got to see. Outstanding work all around!

Ouch, the world was suddenly against you at the end huh? It's almost as if everything knew how well you were doing and attempted to stop you from getting that time. laugh new (But on a serious note, that's not good because all of that together, while not overly expensive, is still going to cost you a bit to replace if that's what it comes down to in the end.)

Just uploaded segment 32 :D Part 1 / Part 2

tomorrow I'll reupload segments 1-13 to youtube because they absolutely destroyed the quality when I first put them up, then I'll finish up my comments and submit it to SDA. So if anyone wants to watch through it in one sitting now that it's done I'd wait until I've reuploaded 1-13 :P
