I believe I d/led it from here.  Back when you used to be able to click on the speedruns link, and I think it still redirected internally?  At any rate, it was around when she first made her announcement on the gamefaqs board that she got the 1:00 time.

Kridly...I know that's not what was said or intended but my stupid mind is...well...that...stupid! It's just how it is recieved and I want it to be recieved like that...I think of it like that by my own choice because it helps me to focus on what I need/want to do. Motivation...

I also figured that I wasn't the only young one here...I mean this game is so awesome that it can't be restricted to the oldbies...*smiles* Oh and believe what you want...but I will try and try and try until I have beaten (not even tying will make me happy...although I will probably go insane from uber happiness just getting that) Scarlet's run...

Purple Lizard: No...I'm sorry...but this is the way I type...well when I'm typing on message boards at least...just think of the ellipses as commas...  < and that was a period *smiles*

Oh and yes...my control scheme does matter because you need to be able to press the up diagonal (originally R) and down diagonal (originally L)...

Y: Shoot
B: Jump
R: Run
X: Item Cancel
L: Aim up
A: Nothing...and I don't believe it can be set to aim down...I think I have tried...
Select: (guess)

With that control scheme I can't do the Crystal Flash because I cannot aim up and down at the same time...I need to reset it...*grumbles* Or just switch A to run and R back to what it's supposed to be like most people have it...

And I had never even thought of doing a speedrun before I came onto the GF's message boards...then I started searching for more SM stuff and eventually found my way to the speedruns...in fact...before I joined the message boards at GF's I didn't even know where all the items were in the game...I knew most though...but I didn't know where about 5-7 of them were...and I never even thought of doing a route to make it faster...

Then again the only reason I got back into SM (I had stopped playing for a few years) was because I was really bored and the first game I could think of to go to a message board of GF's was SM...(I was experimenting with the search field)...

And back to Kridly...the whole point of my trying is because I want to test myself and BECOME good enough to beat Scarlet's run...but at the rate I'm going that won't be any time soon...ever since I did the 1:20 run I have just been messing up time after another...*grumbles* And I have yet to be bored enough to sit down and watch my recording of it (I was soooo incredibly bored that I decided to record my run)...

Oh well...that's it for me for now...got to go home...

Well, all I can say is, don't think of them as commas; think of them as periods, because that's what most of them should be.

No dude, we ain't saying yer stupid/less than others for not being able to beat it or trying or anything

All of your posts about running this game, Roxinos, were about not doing any mockballs and still fighting Spore Spawn.  Hence, I said what I did.  So if you do those now, then yeah.

Just know that if you are using my route, you will probably have to do most everything absolutely perfect, as I believe my :55 is a 55:20 or lower (I did the last part the night before and made many screwups, and still got a :55).

Quote from Kridly:
NOBODY is good enough. Hope you get what I'm saying, and that it maketh you feel better.

smokey is.  And I'm sure there's someone that can come around too.  Remember, I too was a random "who?" for this game in 2003 when I thought the last time I played it and got ~2:30 100% was awesome, just 2 years ago.  It can easily happen again, and has several times for these games.  Who knows, maybe Roxinos will be the new wunderkind, maybe not.  Time will tell.

After the second or so time watching it...ya...while I was showing it to my brother...I told him and he didn't see it...*giggles*...*sighs sadly*

Chanoire: Nice translation...I'll go with that...*smiles* Notice how much I care?

Ark: Ya, ya, ya...I don't focus on my grammar when I'm typing off the top of my head...which is what I am doing...I don't think about what I say...and I most certainly don't think about what's supposed to go where...the ellipses should be where there are as ellipses simply because that is how I am thinking...with pauses...and I am typing the words that are in my head...even when I'm really writing/typing something up I still put the ellipses out of habit and have to go back and erase them...

Scarlet: You are right...everything I have mentioned so far has been about my runs...that I avoid doing mockballs and I still fight spore spawn even though I can easily skip him...but what you may have failed to notice (may have...and maybe I didn't mention it)...but I have said in one or two posts that my run doing that is done that was, glitchless, because of the competition me and my brother had...

From the "Best Times" thread:

Quote from myself:
Quote from myself:

Edit: This is not a completed run though...that time is a time that me and my brother's competition go by...the competition is all that is stated above...but it is also that you can only save at your ship...and the run ends after we have all items and have saved at our ship...

...glitchless...fighting all bosses/mini-bosses...

Also if you remember I was asking you why skipping getting power bombs early was faster...don't you wonder why I would ask such a question? Also I asked you about what your route was compared with the other SRunner's runs were...(if I remember correctly that also sparked a confrontation between us)...

It's really getting annoying having to reiterate myself and to clarify what I was saying...it's partially my fault (mostly in fact) and partially whoever is trying to read my post...misinterpretation is not your friend...

Quote from Red Scarlet:

maybe Roxinos will be the new wunderkind

This makes me exceedingly happy......oh and I hope that was a typo at the end (wunderkind...*pokes the "n"*)

Off topic of any time: "Go then...there are other worlds then these."

*giggles* Can someone tell me what that obscure quote is from?

P.P.S.  Damn my posts are long...

The Waste Lands, by Stephen King? One of the books in the Dark Tower series, at least.

But I don't want to get off-topic here, so please, back on topic.

I noticed. And scarlet/roxinos, I assumed that scarlet's 55 run was late 55, and since there are less than 10 seconds of mistakes I think, then you'd just come out with 55 again, even if you were perfect. But if it's early 55 like scarlet says, then it just might be possible, if you were perfect (then you would get 55:10) and some new tricks were found that save enough seconds, and you do some other random stuff that saves a few seconds, like added mockballs and stuff. I doubt that that'll be possible for anyone, but know that tying 100% in 0:55 is possible, and it would be very cool if someone did that.

EDIT: Wow, two poeple posted while I was writing. I was saying "I noticed" to Mr. Aran

OOOOO...cool...now I know something else! And knowing is half the battle! GI JOE!...sorry...hehe...

And yes....you are right Ark...actually it was first said in the 1st book..."The Gunslinger"...but the Dark Tower series it is! Now back on topic!

Who else wants to comment on what I said...any more bitchiness? (pardon the term)

Edit: You put too much stock into Scarlet's run...just because few mistakes were made does not mean that it was as fast as it could be done...

*falls on knees* THANK THE LORD SOMEBODY GETS IT!

And I'm just as much a Scarlet fanboy as you...I just feel that it is more fun to try to beat the run then to just idolize it to the point of believing it is flawless and the best that can be done...

Edit: By the way...I have to redownload Scarlet's 55 run and Smokey's 36 because my comp was totally wiped...*grumbles*

I feel that way too. With WD's 0:50 any% run, I didn't just go "Wow, he's perfect. No beating that." I tried to beat it......I ended up just tying it, and maybe that's why I'm saying you'll do the same. I don't know. You can just ignore me :? .

Yes...yes I can...I'm not saying that I will for sure...but I will put all my effort and skill into at least tying it...and if I do tie it...I wont' stop...that will just tell me that it is beatable...(even though that may not be true)

It could be, I don't know for sure.  I might be overexaggerating how costly my messups were.  My run has never been "timed" that I know of, so it's just a guess at what the seconds are.

And Roxinos, people have to go by what you say.  No one can read your mind, so all of the 'misinterpreting' of your plans/how you play falls solely on your shoulders.

When people ask for routes, why X is faster/slower than Y, and such, it is easy to assume a run might be planned.  It is no mystery that you were probably going to attempt a run.

Good luck, and don't get physically sick of the game (and bodily injured) of the game like I did if you go for it.

What happens, happens.  My run has lasted longer than I thought it would have anyway (almost anything is better than 2 days, eh smokes?  :o <-talking about my 1:00 and his :58, not the irony of his :56 and my :55), so I really can live with it being beaten, despite what I say on IRC.  Sure, I'd be pissy but who wouldn't? It comes with the territory and is to be expected.  If you beat me, the world will go on.  If you don't, the world will go on.

Quote from Roxinos:

It was as fast as it could be done by me, without starting over from part 2, and without me going mentally insane.  3 weeks vs 1/2 days is a long time for doing 1 run (for me).  I'm not a robot.  I honestly don't see much lower timewise from my route being doable by a person.  Maybe a very high :54.  Maybe.  Not with what's known/actually doable that a person can pull off.

Oh ya...the world would go on...with one much happier person...misinterpretation cannot be the fault of the writer as long as the information that the writer intended to be interpreted in a certain way is all there...misinterpretation is not a bad thing...it's a mistake...and people learn from mistakes...oh and thank you for basically saying what I wanted you to say *smiles* Have a nice day! *skitters away*

In case you still don't know, it's this:  ü

The two dots make up the umlaut.

I expect no more misinterpretational things from you from this point on, or you're fired.

If my time is a high :55, then I don't see a person getting :54.  Unless it's single-segment, which would likely rouse suspicion.
