We should all consider ourselves lucky that they've downsized. The number of deaths occurring by being crushed by the original must be staggering. It's believed that one of the major earthquakes at the time was due to an Xbox-lade lorry overturning.
I'd say 360. I was never much of a Sony guy, so I can't necessarily give you a pure, unbiased opinion. To me, it all boils down to the controllers. Part of it is the fact that the analog stick is below the D-pad, which I can't stand, and the other part is the fact that they're just less comfortable than 360 controllers. If you prefer God of War and Killzone to Halo and Gears of War, and can use the controllers with ease, go for the PS3.
i'm actually liking the ps3 controller more and more as i use it. it's very light and makes the 360's seem laughably excessive. also don't care for the triggers on the 360 controller much ... too thin. still hate the placement of the left joystick, but it's something you get used to very quickly.
I like the 360's analog stick's feel. They're soft flat rubberyness feels better than the PS3's rough plasticy analog stick. I prefer the 360's triggers though. It might just be me but if feels like you don't have to pull on them as much to hit the back/stopping place (not sure how to explain this).

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Another thing is that, at least for the PS2, the controllers feel cheap and flimsy, like something put together in a Chinese sweatshop. I've only had mine for about a year, and the controller already feels all creaky and wobbly. Buttons are also much less responsive than on the Gamecube/Wii or Xbox 360.
Yeah DualShock2 controllers feel very cheap compared to the DS3s. The DS3 has a dpad that I reckon surpasses even the classic controllers'. And Ninty used to be king of dpads. Shame.

I'm confused. How is it a shame that they "used to be" the king of d-pads when the one on the 3DS is great?
EDIT: Oh, DualShock 3. Aren't all the DualShock controllers pretty much identical?
Ps2-controller is one of the best controllers, just a sidenote. Overall I would prefer the Xbox360-controller to the ps3-controller. You can make a more sophisticated analog use of its shoulder-triggers. They are really great, also ergonomic. Ps3-triggers are rather useless for precise analog control. But most games use them in a digital manner anyway. The major thing that ps3 controller does better is of course the d-pad and the decision to keep the thumbsticks konvex. But you can get caps to put over 360-thumbsticks.
