for me i got my second segmented 32, technically better as i wasted time at save stations but i still need to do something at the last segment about the supers, my method requires insanely many work on tourian just so i can barely get enough missiles, i end up opening some doors with missiles too
Wait, this is without refilling at the ship, right? If you were to make you last save just before Ridley, you could luck manipulate bunches of super missiles drops from Ridley, the various enemies on your way out of Norfair, and the metroids. Let's see, if you were to use only supers for everythhing, you'd need a minimum of 17 super missile drops between Ridley and MB. five or so could definitely come from Ridley. then there's a guaranteed drop from the red cactus; the wavers in the bubble room drop supers frequently, so killing any nearby might be useful. Norfair's version of zoomers (I can never remember their proper name) drop supers fairly often, and there's several of those on your way up the elevator shaft. And then there's of course the metroids, which almost always drop at leat one super refill.
at moments like this i thank god for making me the math champion of my state so im gonna do quick math at the ridley fight, using the advice you gave me about 2 charged shots=3 supers im gonna save enough missiles to barely kill him
edit: skipping spazer = not good it isnt worth it due to the time i lost on mother brain
Even if you're good at math, I would think it likely you could get nervous during the fight and screw up. I think I probably would, although I haven't tried.
yeah, i really dont understand why some people have a lot of troubles with numbrs, they are piece of cake to me
as for my run progress, lets just say it isnt looking good, today on another attemp to get a nice time i got another 32, for some reason i cant get less than 10 minutes before red brinstar
also most of my phantoon fights are slow, its hard to do the spark to wrecked ship and then use the powerbomb way so i dont reset the game on this test runs, i should maybe
I think math abilities are largely hereditary. Both my parents were very good at math, and I am too.
How many segmented 32's have you gotten now? And how much time are you spending on each? Spending more time on them may help lower your time (that sentence sounded kind of ironic).
I think anything below 10 minutes at the Red Brinstar save is TAS-only. And spidey-widey is right: you're not spending nearly enough time on any one of these runs to get the quality of play you need in each segment. I'm positive you can do it; just keep trying.
yeah i know i can definitely improve the segments, some manipulation might work wonders like the phantoon quick fight and draygon who doesnt always attack as i need him to
as for now i keep doing my route, im also adopting many of the tricks terimakasih uses, well not all but some good timesavers
progress on this run: 00:19:xx at ridleys lair
xx is a number between 30 and 60 for minutes, for this i waited 30 seconds and resaved, it raised to 20 but then i waited only 20 secs, it stood on 19
damn ridley i killed him too slow, im still unsure of what is the best way of killing him, i also save only 2 or 3 supers
before ridley's lair- norfair after tje long hall(only if the run is going perfect and i might need some manipulation of luck)
norfair-end
my route is basically the exact same as hotarubi, except i go to tourina via maridia becaus it is technically faster
i also use different mini time savers aswell as 2 rounding phantoon
edit: blueglass, apparently i know one of my problems, his draygon fight is a bit faster or at least that is what i think
also wondering, do you think its better to recharge the way hotarubi did?? i mean at the sand pool, i skip that part because im not sure if its better but eventually i end up lacking supers at draygon thus making it a 3 round match, which is what im looking for though so i can get a blue suit
Wait, weren't you using shinespark to two-round Drayon? Because if so, your Draygon fight is definitely faster than his. As for refilling at the sand pool, wouldn't it be better to luck-manipulate Botwoon to drop a lot of Supers, or would that just make that segment way too frustrating, what with already having to shinespark to Draygon , get a good Draygon fight, then do the rest of the segment? On that note, do you think it would be a good idea to end that segment at the save before Ridley? There aren't any really difficult bits between Lower Norfair entrance and the Lower Norfair save point, and it would make luck-maniplating Ridley and super missile drops that much less frustrating. Also, if you do decide to move that save point, I think saving on the way out of Norfair would be a bad idea. Remember that every save takes about eight seconds (with a save at the ship taking much more), so you want to save as infrequently as possible for good luck manipulation. In my mind, that would mean the red Brinstar save, a save before Botwoon, and one before Ridley.
saving before ridley would be indeed better, the only obstacle in the way is the spark towards the yellow pirates and the powerbomb there, its really easy but hard if i want to do it fast
as for draygon i can 2 round him but i can also use the blue suit and spark out of the way
on my test i approximately saved 10 seconds or a bit less by sparking, im not sure yet which stratedy is better, 2 round or blue suit
Taking everything into consideration, it sounds like sparking from Draygon is about equal tomewise to not sparking for any%. The trick itself I timed to save 8 seconds, but that was without counting the time from the additional round during the fight. Plus you were saying earlier about how energy was always very low when you did the spark. I think it might be a good idea to leave out the spark and two-round Draygon instead.
