First 100% hard I've done in... a long time haha. Mostly I played through Metroid 1 and was like, "you know, I wonder how much mzm really is like this" so I ran around trying to find all the items again. Last powerbomb expansion in chozodia, above the darkened room with the crawling pirates from the stealth part took me like an extra hour to find, it was shameful. But I did decide I dig what they did with the western area of Norfair, because in M1 it's totally just a maze.

Very nice; and under 55 min, wow. Did you record this run?
Are you gonna submit such a run to speeddemoarchives ?
Or the fact that 10% is possible on all versions, and obviously faster because of bosses, will throw 9% hard runs out of SDA ?

9% will remain anyway, as it's only possible on PAL, but still remains a low%. The NTSC will remain as the low% at 10%.

I'm pretty sure if the category is Low % it's irrelevant if there's a faster time for higher % (for the same version). Probably it'll be a 10% Hard for NTSC Low %, and 9% Hard for PAL; 2 categories. If not I would think the lower % would take precedence over speed, since that's the purpose of the category.

Not recorded, no. Probably though I can't do too much better than that. I'm working on getting my recording situation figured out, I'm just not sayin it's gonna happen in like a couple days. More like a couple months... mostly I just wanted to warm up ahead of time and figure out a good outline to follow for when I do record. And there were just a few parts from which I wanted to remove the frustration, by playing it to death.

Well yeah I'll do it and can do it, it's really mostly a matter of getting the proper luck. That's why I save so many times... also why I make note of the time wasted on zebetites, cause that is just really great luck I had there. So that's not directly reproducible but sitting around working at it for a few days/weeks definitely is, and I admit it, I won't be trying to make a perfect run as far as good luck the whole way through is concerned (I mean, I'll try to make it not look like crap either mind you). But no that sub-55 is including at least a couple full minutes of just idiotic mistakes; damage from Kraid I just accepted, no-good tourian escape and such little things to add up. The mecha battle I haven't spent enough time working out either, as far as how good it can go; occasionally he'll drop 3 refills at a time and you can just do serious work. So I'll try to make it pretty good but maybe not perfect; it'll be at least that time or better though. Honestly, I wouldn't show a time here if I couldn't record a better one... I guess I just think it would make me look sort of silly.

Speedrunner

After 4 years break i did 9% run again on normal mode. I´ll post last segment my own topic until uploading is done. If someone care my final time is 43:19. Damn its awesome feeling even im not beat my all around best run. This is my 2nd best 9% run ever and this one is only recorded 9% run. EDIT: I have to congratulation ajbolt89 his awesome 9% completion sub hour. Thats somethings really cool. Damn man i love you LOL.:)

BTW ajbolt89 do you recorded it? Can we see it in SDA or youtube?

Started playing ZM earlier and decided to see what would happen if I went for an any%. I've never tried any% before, only 100%. I'm sure I could have left alot more stuff behind, as well as altered my route, but anyways - I got 51:25 and 48%.

I really like the Mecha Ridley fight much more when you are less than 100%.

Oh shiz, I guess I didn't say I didn't record it. I'm still waiting until I can get a dvd recorder now, I've got all else I need. That's sort of a biggie of course. But I do plan to do another run, and record it when the time comes.
It is weird how much stronger mecha becomes once you have 100%. Did you go ridley or kraid first? and did you get varia before chozodia?

I did Kraid first, and I got varia after Kraid. I got hi-jump before Kraid and I skipped Wave Beam.

After Ridley I used the morph ball cannon near the top of his elevator to get SA. When you say it would have been great for Kraid ... wouldn't that have involved a hells run and taken up a considerable amount of minutes?

Well I have hardly played other than low% in a while, except that 100% at the top of this page... I'm sure I'm mistaken, I guess I just thought screw attack wasn't too far beyond high jump, only maybe four or five map blocks. But really thinking about it I suppose there's the room with the giant side hoppers, and that little bomb jump can definitely be annoying with all the fire guys swooping on you so I don't know how worthwhile it would be after all.
