Why am I so amazing?
Quote from Weasel:
You can skip the wave beam, power grip (wait, I knew about this, hahah!), and screw attack? o_O

Who said anything about skipping power grip? Currently we haven't found a way around that impenitrable plant barrier in Norfair without grip. It remains unskipped.

I finally got my ROM today. Around 7 hours later, I've finished it for the first time. I did it on normal, and I'm pretty happy with my time, especially considering how long it took me to find the power bombs.

I probably could have cut at least 28 minutes off if I hadn't saved the early item trial-and-error attempts, most notably the Varia Suit.  That bomb jumping sequence really sucked.  I think it took me about 15-20 minutes to finally get it.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was around 65% with 3 hours and 20-something minutes. I think. Dammit, can't remember...

Now that all 3 modes are beaten, I can go back to just trying a Hard 100% in less than 2 hours.

Here are my 4 runs through the game

First time on NORMAL, bad time because I was searching for 100%

http://home.comcast.net/~chriscdc/metroidend100normal.JPG

2nd time on HARD I knew where I was going a bit more, still went for 100%

http://home.comcast.net/~chriscdc/metroidend100hard.JPG

3rd time on EASY, I planned my route a bit to get 100% plus a decent time.

http://home.comcast.net/~chriscdc/metroidend100easy.JPG

4th was my planned speed run, though I think I got way to many items.  I was worried about how many missles I would have when I fought Mother Brain so I collected some that I shouldn't have.  It turned out I could have got by with 4 less upgrades.....oh well....I have no doubt that I can get that time under :40 which I might try today if I feel like it :D

I also used the bomb to varia suit sequance break so I would never have to come back to that section again......

4 wins in 4 days.  Bring on Metroid Prime 2 :D

Have you found all items on your own, or have you used a guide?

My 7+ hour first run was finding them all by myself.

Then I mapped them out on paper and started from there.

So technically I made my own guide.

I studied LLCoolDave's 39:29 movie so I could get this time, but not on VBA, but on my EZ Flash Advance cart. I dont have a camera of my own, so I had to transfer my savefile to the computer and then take a snapshot with VBA. This isnt my real time though, my real time is 53:09 on my GBA SP. ^_^;

On my next run, I WILL beat my current record on the same difficulty and (hopefully) unlock Time Attack Mode as well.

go TRH, go!

I did a 100% route test and ended up with 1:23. I used some savestates, though, so well, this doesn't really count :P

Second time, on hard:

So close to a better ending, dammit. This was kind of a half-hearted speed-run (as in I only messed around a little), but I feel kinda bad because of how much I abused save states in this.
