Thats the one!

silent echo: I defeated Ridley first. I used the door warp to reach that room to Ridley. Since the door isnt a missle door, i didnt need to use any missles (since i didnt have any) And when i killed ridley, he gave 70 missles something. Which gave me the missle to open that door leading to Kraid. It is VERY similar to Red Scarlet's speed run of it. Which the random zelda person just posted

Well, for those of you who were wondering just where my 54:07 100% ended up...I decided it was just too "meh" to submit. So many little things that didn't sit well with me.

So I went back and refined a few things - Made a route change and added a couple tricks. This new run still looks sloppy (35 unintended acid/magma trips, and a whole host of other rookie mistakes - including sub-par Ridley and Kraid fights!), so I don't want to submit just yet.

But the new time is: 52:47.
Expect something better within the next week or so.

Screw the next week...I've got it now.

100% - 52:23

Looks a helluva lot cleaner than the other one.

Will mail ASAP.

Where am I?
HELL YEAH!

I finally beat the original metroid!! I have no clue of my time but i got every single power up, 7 e-tanks and ended with 250 missiles.

EDIT: I guess I got 99% but how do I record the time? Do I need a stopwatch?

i'm pretty sure the accepted way to time it is to record the run and time from the point you gain control of samus to the point you lose it.

eeeeyyaaghhh!
I finally beat this game.  I don't know what my time was, but Samus took her helmet off in the ending screen.  I left out a few (two, I think) Missile Tanks and 1 Energy Tank, and all upgrades.  Mother Brain was really easy compared to the Zebetites.  The escape section was also a lot easier than I thought it would be.  I ended up having about six hundred seventy-something extra time units left at the end.
