Thanks a lot.
I could lower it by a few minutes but never enough to reach my goal. Zoid is freaking good to be able to make so little difference between segmented and non-segmented runs.

I think this s probably the highest of M2K2 :)
I didn't do any SB'ing and it wasn't a speed run.  And it took me like 5 hours to get the rest of the items.  I know it sucks :)

Aww, Sterrance!
Most of us probably took that long at one point.  I know I took somewhere around 16 hours my first few times.

getting there...
Finishing, and getting 100% were completely different things for me. The first time I ever beat the game, I never was in any hurry to rush to the end. I was always backtracking to areas to get items that I knew I had missed. I eventually went ahead and beat the game with about 90% at 40 hours. But, my final time was about 55 hours at 100%.

I don't think that there can really be any bragging rights for completion time on your first play through. I know that, personally, I took the time to soak up Metroid Prime's atmosphere like a sponge and enjoyed it much more that way. I'm sure that I could have blazed through the game in 15 hours with a guide but it would have killed the enjoyment factor.

My point is that everyone plays games a bit differently the first time. Once that's said and done with, let the speed running begin!

I'll make a MPT speedrun videos(of MP1 and MP2:E speedrun only). I skip mostly all of my energy tanks and missile expansion (not doing that again). But the time will be different cause I almost died with 1 energy left. So the time and Item percentage will be different. I won't make the speedruns soon. Reason why is that I have the flu D':
I'll make the videos as soon as I get well
Hope I feel better soon

Happy Hunting :D

How did you possibly manage to get 1:24!? That is an incredible time! I'm dying to know the route. It must have been significantly different from mine to have been 15min faster. Anyway, great job!

U skipp mostly all enrgeny tanks and missiles

Missiles (45/45)
Energy tanks (2 or 3)
Got SJF doing the Beetle Dash

Also when u get into the SW to skip the Crashed Frigate. U're gonna fall down to the blue door. Down into the water. Enter Morphball (or stay biped). And shoot the door. And step through it. But unlock the gate (cause u're gonna come thru there later). I'm gonna make speedruns anyway but, not yet. Cause I still have the flu. As soon as I get well I'll make it.

I don't think so? Cause if u read this "I skip mostly all of my energy tanks and missile expansion (not doing that again). But the time will be different cause I almost died with 1 energy left." I'm gonna try. But I gotta get better though. Cause I'm still sick. But I'm gonna try to beat my 1:24 record.

Wish me luck :D

i'm also interested in these speedruns. there must be some trick we don't know since the runs are much faster than what most people have obtained.
i'm particularly interested in mp2 since the lack of BSJs make the route quite long.

I mostly did secret worlds. And in MP1 in MPT. When u get wave beam and come back for ice beam. U can go on top of the map and beat the chozo ghost the game will put u back into the map. Also in MP2 in MPT, u mostly have 97,8,or 9 energy tanks. And 50/50 missiles (or less)
Just a tip for u all.

But like I said the Time and Percentage may be different cause the speedrun with little items was to risky.

3:34 47% Wheee! The entire second half of the run was some magical kind of clusterfuck, I am legitimately angry about how the PBs -> Plasma -> Everything section went.

getting there...
I just completed a 1:22. It was pretty sloppy and I'm looking to improve upon it in the future. I'll paste you guys a message of how things went for anyone that is interested. The message is as follows:

"TBH, it was pretty shatty. I escaped with a 4:18. Early wild and the parts leading up to it were poorly executed, but I kept it anyways because I didn't want to fight Flag half a dozen times. I had to get the E tank near the spider-track that we float up because I was near death and didn't want to redo to longest segment in the game (only 16 energy left). I took me at least two full minutes to get the triple bomb jump. I missed the dash from the branch in the frigate crash site and had to settle for the ghetto jump you invented. Things went pretty smoothly until I was about to save after the Phendrana pickup. After riding the elevator down to magamoor, instead of going to the save room behind me I went forward instead, deeper into mag. Realizing my mistake I did an "oh shit" and backed up onto the elevator and accidently took it back up without saving. So then I had to ride the elevator BACK down and save. Embarrassing amateur bullshit...
[4/30/2010 2:32:15 AM] There were tons of other, smaller mistakes. The run was super sloppy in general. I 'm sorry for giving you a play by play that you probably won't read until you get back, but I am just that bored. I haven't been anywhere but work and home since Saturday. I think I might be going crazy..."

After that run I sat down and watched Zoid's 1:03 and took 3 pages of detailed notes in order to renovate my game-plan. I'm currently working on a new run that will hopefully rescue me from the mediocrity of my 1:22.
You're going too hard on yourself. 1:22 is actually very good.

not if you want to be the best.
Even if you want to be the best, being hard on yourself doesn't help.
