Why have you made such great efforts to conceal your existence? Why have you allowed us to let suffering and oppression rule this life?
Simple: God gave you the free will to believe or not believe and to follow laws or disobey them.

WHY did you create us?
WHY do many people on this forum like to create hacks? Same idea, really--but there is probably more to God's decision of creation than anyone will ever know.

Ok, but WHY? Why give us free will and stand by idly as we use our free will in terrible ways? Is this some kind of a sick test? If so, WHY?

I shudder at the idea of a supreme being creating this life for entertainment purposes or out of some hobby.
My first questions upon being presented with evidence of their existence would be: Why have you made such great efforts to conceal your existence? Why have you allowed us to let suffering and oppression rule this life? and: WHY did you create us?
I would ask him what exactly how much pi is. He would then aspolde and I would (finally) win the game.
i think steven king is the guy who wrote the bible reincarnated. you need a damn good imagination to write the bible and steven kings books. this topic is so funny to read.

Would it be better if we were all like robots telling God we Loved him? That kind of "Love" wouldn't be genuine, and therefor pointless. He let's us decide if we want to Love him. When we can understand the Love of God and accept his forgiveness (Forgive US as we forgive OUR debtors) we can then Love others as he does.
Why?
There are mainly 2 view points in this (or any other) type of debate/discussion -of this caliber. When man(kind) fell from grace - this was the first severance from him and God. This was the fault of Satan for deceiving Eve. [a side note: Isn't romantic how Adam Loved Eve enough to follow her -even if it meant defying God and having to leave the Garden of (h)Eden?] ...So, any disagreement between 2 or more people is ultimately a triumph of evil; since there is a division. God would have it that all... essentially be Saved from their sins and being reunited with the God of Glory. If we are in "one mind and one accord" (i.e. in agreement) -- then Satan (the enemy of us all) -loses.
I'm saying why even have a struggle between good and evil? Why not make life about joy only instead of 90% pain and 10% joy? Why do terrible things happen and god just sits there and sees what we're gonna do about it? Why even allow satan to exist? If there is a god then I think I hate him.

Would you really want that? A God that intervenes in EVERY bad situation? It would seem terrific, yet I'm not saying he doesn't intervene in some situations. There have been things that have happened in my life that I can only attribute to God's grace and mercy, or he showed me in a specific way that he was with me -protecting me. I have a sort of 'testimony' in spoiler tags below. But, as I was saying... If God did intervene in every bad situation -what would he do? Would it be better if he destroyed every "bad guy", or everyone that ever told a lie, or stole something they didn't need, or anyone that cursed or abused another person? Because everyone of us have wronged at least someone in someway... Causing those people misery and/or heartache. You could say that part of the solution is (Like Smokey the Bear used to say: Only you can prevent forest fires.) ...with all of us. Someone that wrongs you - you have to be able to forgive them. It's a strength that lies upon a spiritual level. And, Do your best to bring no harm to anyone else. If you've found that you have offended someone... often times the person that will hurt more is the one that made the offense, but at any rate - that person should go to one that was offended and sincerely apologize, or do what they can to make it right. It can help lead to a healing process.
So, even though God may not get involved in every aspect of our lives to make things right - it is his will that we Love one another as we do ourselves. That way WE can make things right.
Edit: I just thought... What about things like disease, or random accidents, -things none of us have control over?
It's another "ideal" or Utopian vision for what we would like things to be like. But, since there is sin (evil) in the world - that can never be achieved. It's not that God allows evil and bad things to happen. (It is not his will that any should perish). That is just a side product of the world we live in. If I were to get Cancer and then ask "God! Why Me?!" - I might as well ask myself "Why not me?"
Life can't always be easy. Things happen, such as Loved ones passing away. If nobody ever died - the world would be a very crowded place.
Back in December of 1999 I was robbed at gun point at the hotel I worked at. Without getting into every detail of the events I will say that it was a traumatic experience... Especially having the barrel of a gun pressed to your temple and the hammer being clicked back. At some point the guy told me to go to a back room where he had me lie down in the floor. He said he would blow my brains out if there was any more money "out there" (in the cash drawer). I eventually got up and went out the nearest door into the hall way where I went to a room a guest was staying in and I called the police. However, the robber did get away.
The next night, I was back at work. At some point a customer came in and I checked him into a room. While I was getting him checked in he showed me a card that had a Bible verse on it. The verse was this, from Isaiah: 41:10.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
At the time I didn't read all of it. For if I had I might've broke down crying. To me that was a very personal and direct way of God showing me he had his hand upon me. And I Thank Him for that.
I'm saying why not just make heaven? Why have an earth at all for people to live on?
Hypothetically speaking; If heaven is a place where (if all of us were there) we would live forever. Would you want to be in a place where others are, perhaps, praising and worshiping God if you yourself didn't (freely do so) in this life? To forcibly bring someone into that in the life after this would be a fate just as bad as Hell.
And if evil were to exist in heaven - meaning; those that were there never shed their sinful nature... Then heaven wouldn't be heaven at all. It wouldn't be any better than this world we live in now.
Heaven is essentially what the Garden of Eden was, yet, I personally don't believe they'd be exactly same. Before the fall of man (eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge -of good and evil-) Adam and Eve could've done or had anything they wanted. And if you think of the word Eden and how it's close to Hedon (as in hedonism) -where we'd live for only pleasures sake. That's why I think they'd be different.... But who knows.
The point is, Heaven will be a restoration of paradise. Until that happens - we, as Christians....
I'm sure you get the point of what I'm trying to say. I figured there's been enough evangelizing in this thread already.
Edit: I didn't mean to dodge the question.... I'd say that Man was created for God's pleasure. I can't say why... I have no idea. But like others have 'joked' here... Why create hacks? That's why we have Legos... etc. Maybe that's why. Just because.
Yeah, it's just so well know that I didn't think I'd need to provide the link, but never mind.
The main point, in case you don't wish to watch all of the videos is:
If a person who was religiously perfect, had never sinned, and had never done anything wrong, loved god and all he stands for their entire life, were to suddenly lose both of their arms, and prayed for them to grow back, would they do so? The answer is no.
Religious people will say something like "he doesn't have to answer every little prayer or request", but the point remains that they are told to live their life free of sin and everything else, but there's no reward for doing so.
