Servin' you realness!!
Quote from MetroidMst:

There is only one "natural" way for sex. It also happens to be the only way that doesn't come with STDs (Or whatever the term for it is now.) when kept to the one marriage mate. Amazing how God had that written into the Bible isn't it? People decide they don't want to listen and they end up with all sorts of screwy diseases. Human males and females were designed for the other sex. Men have no use for another guys semen. Women can't get much sexual satisfaction without a penile-like-object involved.

Gosh, God must've been clueless when creating humans.

Like most sex has anything to do with pro-creation.  Are you suggesting that women who have sex past menopause are 'unnatural'?  People have sex because they have a biological drive to do so and it feels good.  A man has plenty of use for another man's semen if he's into semen.  Procreation may be the reason sex exists in the first place, but I can guarantee you it's not on the minds of most people when they're doing the deed.  And it's also clear that you know nothing about pleasing a woman sexually.

But this argument goes beyond gay marriage or sex issues.  Anyone stupid enough to actually think the bible (or any of its 70+ re-written versions) are the word of some mythical being just because they were told so is DELUSIONAL.

I don't believe it because I was told to. I believe it because the facts involved. Tell me the name of someone who will conquer a nation and the way he will do it 200 years from now and get back to me when it happens... Thought so. The reason I find most people don't believe the Bible, and by extension God, is because they don't want to answer to a higher authority for their actions. "If there isn't a God, I can do anything I want because there really are no consequences."

And if you didn't notice, I said nothing of procreation. Maybe I should've spelled it out better for you. My point in regards to semen is there is no biological use for it in regards to men. It only has a use with a woman. Sex is not unatural for a 100 year old woman either. The main reason for sex is for a married couple to express their love for each other. Children are just a side effect. Human genitals are not designed with the same sex in mind. Lo and behold they work great on the other sex though... Why does this matter? Good question, but also a stupid one because it means you can't think if you have to ask it. After you finish eating your next meal go ahead and eat your fork or spoon too. Go ahead, just because it wasn't "designed" to be eaten or the fact your body won't take the plastic/metal that well doesn't really matter at all. You haven't lived yet if you haven't eaten them. In fact, eat some rocks too. Maybe a side of siding too. Stupid human body! Why do you work so well with things you are designed for and not for the rest of the stuff? Evil or Very Mad But I always wanted to cut out my brain to see how it looked. Rolling Eyes

Fact is that you can use anything in a way that it wasn't designed, but the results aren't going to be pretty.

I really do not care enough about this issue ATM to really take a big position.  However, for the sake of the poll, I will go with NO, just because it is kind of...unnatural.  I really do not think nature--or creation, for that matter--wanted humans to start having gay sex.  It is just a weird thing to do.

Weird, because the most atheists I know (and I do believe I know more than you, since I'm from Sweden) are atheists because the evidence for any religion simple does not hold up to the facts uncovered by modern science. And they are also in general good people who do not go around doing whatever they feel like without care for anyone or anything. Because, you know, morality and shit, which contrary to what you might believe, does not come from the bible.

As for the biblical prediction, try to find evidence against its legitimacy and you will probably find it, becuase there are a lot of people who have scrutinized the whole bible without ending up believers. The rest of your post was even more stupid and I won't respond to it.

Of course not. It comes from your god-given conscience silly.

Show me one scientific fact that the Bible doesn't support. Since, you know, the Creator of the whole universe (Which includes science believe it or not.) made the laws and stuff that makes science up, which by sheer coincidence I'm sure, happens to include science.

I really do not want this to venture further into the realms of "is the bible for realz or not" than it already has. It was stupid of me to mention the word fact. I'll just say that the probability of the theory of evolution being true (the predictions made with it are completely astounding), the earth and the universe being billions of years old instead of thousands (radioactive dating, and observations made far out in the universe), a boat not being able to hold millions of lifeforms (nor it being possible to collect all of them, nor there being a global flood) and so on and on is high enough for me to think that the probability of the chirstian god to exist is very, very small.

I denounce the holy spirit.  I do not accept jesus christ as my savior, in fact I believe him to be mythical.  I believe the bible to not be the word of god but merely a collection of ancient fables.  I do not need fear of hell to inspire me to do the right thing, I do it of my own accord.  I accept the uncertainty of not knowing the answers to many basic questions about our existence and/or purpose and try to embrace those mysteries as a fundamental part of this human existence.

Jesus said: People want to see proofs for god existance but not god himself.

He meant dont be wrong and contemplate all the irrelevant things but make an experiment by your own and just take the good mindset, live according to its rules and see if it turns out fruitfull for you.
I still did not make this experiment although I could.

I believe there may have been a man who existed about whom the myths are based.  Just like folk tales where great exaggerations are placed up on events of the person's life like john henry or paul bunyan.  Much of the details of his story had been told already in other legends hundreds of years before the time he was said to exist, like the resurrection and the star appearing on the night of his birth.  If he was a real man he sounds like a true revolutionary, not unlike a hippie of sorts.  It's funny how his followers in modern times seem to live lives more outside of his teachings than the nonbelievers do.

Quote from Opium:

How about it. Look up Isaiah chapter 40 and read verse 22. If I'm not mistaken it clearly says "the circle of the Earth." That is just one spot you might say. But since, as you clearly stated here, "Those are basic scientific facts that the men wrote the bible were ignorant of." most everyone thought the Earth was flat... How did Isaiah know to write that the Earth was a circle I wonder. There is no further need to say the Earth was a circle, no other verse says different, so the understanding is universal. At a time when people thought the Earth was held up by four giant elephants Job wrote (My bad, Moses wrote the book of Job.) that the Earth is hanging upon nothing. (Job 26: 7 if you must know.) No direct mention of the Earth being the center of the universe is not ignorant. There is no need to say so, because it isn't. That was a human teaching, which resulted in some gratifying humiliation for the idiots who taught that crap without reading the Bible.

And since you brought it up Hell isn't real. Jesus only used something similar once, and it was an illistration to the Pharisees. In it a rich man asks for a drop of water to cool his tounge and blah. A symbolic gesture since a drop would bring no relief period. However he described both the young girl and Lazarus that he ressurected from death as "sleeping." Interesting. The word hell simply means "the common grave of mankind." Another faiery tale taught by the Church. Hell was used as the Church's way to control the people and keep them in fear. While I'm ranting about stupid teachings it isn't possible for God to do anything either. Titus 1:2 says God cannot lie. So no, he can't do everything.

cpadolf: You are missing a few details about your boat stuff, and even evolution. The Bible actually says that creatures evolve. It says that God made them according to their kind. How the species formed into different varieties comes from the parents genes, which allow for many different traits, colors, and could lead to different sized fins, beaks, different shaped eyes, wings and all that. So to a certain extant evolution is said to exist in the Bible. It just isn't taught that the universe came about by it. Second thing is it wasn't long before God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden. The human race and the animals didn't have a need to travel clear to the other side of the planet. They were relatively close. Which would've given Noah plenty of time to collect them in the 40 (Maybe it was 80.) years while the ark was under construction. Finally, I know I can't take you back and give you undeniable proof God exists and created everything. But you can't take me back and show me the exact spot in time when your universe had everything set up just so perfectly for evolution to happen either. We may never agree about it, but for the time being it is fun to debate it.

Kenny: If I understood you right, there is also not anything wrong with raping or killing anyone because we can do so by our god-given free will. But we know God condems those things, and our conscience tells us it is wrong to do them. He also says that the men who left the "natural use of the female" and who lied with other men would recieve thier punishment. (It says the same of females.) There is no denying that the couple gets pleasure out of it, otherwise they wouldn't do it. In fact it is written that they are "having their reward in full" in the same account that condems their practice. So in two areas where we see bad things come out of, raping and murdering, we could probably agree that those are bad and the Bible/God could be right on that. However, when God asks us to just believe him on the issue of being staright or not people decide not to listen because there doesn't seem to be any harm done. It's all good and fun. (Until God destroys yall anyway, but that is besides the point.)

Let's see. God says don't murder. I can agree with that, bad things seem to happen when someone kills someone else. Let's see. God says don't rape. I can see how that would be a good course too. Let's see. God says don't LIE WITH OTHER MEN?!?! OMG!!! I can see how all these other things work out to mankinds' benefit, but seriously? I'm just supposed to trust in a God who hasn't gave me bad advice before? Who does he think he is?

I've ranted way too long. I'll just close up by saying that human governments are going to turn on false religion and destroy them. I'm sure we can all be happy for that at least. Just remember you wouldn't be so shocked if you read about it. And that is all I have to say about that too. Whoever started this just wanted my opinion and got it, and then some religious beliefs too. Time for someone else to have an opinion I think. (Sorry for being off topic, I'm done now.)

I am still sticking to my point. Not that anyone cared anyway.
