I don't see any PAL records at all, so you're free to set one.  You should probably play on the console, though.  Do you have any version of the cartridge?  It might be hard to find a PAL setup, but even if you live outside of the US, you could probably find an NTSC fairly easily.

I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
There isn't a PAL record.  The doors are wide open.

I can see why, though. You can hack an emu, and get it to do things that you couldn't do in a normal SNES version, although if a emu run was checked and stated as valid beforehand, that would be better.

Ready and willing.
No, that's not the point. The point is emulators can have slow down that can't be detected during playback.

actually, for me, it's not that at all. it's not an issue of trust. people i respect know that emulators can be useful tools.

the issue is that the emulation is not perfect. in a field where every millisecond counts, that is unacceptable. my job as a guardian of the integrity and transparency of the field demands that i allow no imperfections into the scoring system, and because no emulation is perfect, it had to be disallowed.

Yep.  It's like shifting the rules of golf for one shot in a tournament.  You're doing the game, and the players of golf, an injustice.

You can, however, use an emulator to practice and plan your runs.  It's a very useful thing, and your runs will most likely benefit from it.

not to mention hundreds of others benefitting from it when people without capture technology use emus to make discovery videos.

2 days ago and friend of mine and i decided to play through SM at the same time and getting a rate of 100%.
we both took about the same time i was even faster about 1 min in the end.
I played on emulator with no tricks at all but as far as i know it's the us version.
He played on the consol with Pal.
Though being faster at the end of the game the final time showed something different.
My time was 1:55, his was 1:49.
I think that this is because on emu the game runs faster, doesn't it?
Any ideas?

one of you probably paused longer (time doesn't count while the menu is open).
