I did say Spacejump, though I meant to type SA for screw attack.

GT's fight is rather good with such low energy, though the increase in Etanks between him and Ridley is slightly humorous.

Well, your super vs regular thoughts are only true if the game rounds up for completion%.

There are no real decimal%s in the game, but if you're counting total ammo, then I suppose that's different. If you're going by the game's % counter, no matter how it rounds, getting a max of 4 supers will end in the same result as getting 2. Same goes for powerbombs. If you're counting total ammo, then if you can get away with 2, then go for it.

If you're feeling reaaaallllllly adventurous, you could skip HJ boots.

I'll just stick with 35 missiles and 2 sms. I know the SA can be skipped and the only place I might need HJ is in maridia so I'm not sure yet. More testing will be done.

Alas. Just did some fairly intensive testing of Maridia, and I can make it all the way to the big Maridian snail room before I get stuck withjout HJ boots. A combination of freeze the crabs and grappling them allows the climb to Mt. Doom, where you just grapple across. In the snail room, you need the extra height for the grapple to reach.

Ugh! I got so close to getting to the grapple point in the room you mentioned!

Well, for whatever reason, that smv won't play for me. Says file is the wrong format, which is weird, 'cause the rest of them work.

I do know how close it is though.. Close enough to be irratating.

How i can get the Power Bombs?

BTW, how i can enter this door?

My method is like half a freaking tile away from grappling. What I do is I got stuck in the door and the highest point I could and I spring jumped over to the grapple point.

Power bombs are:
after Draygon

To pass that blockade, you need to find the air tile in that morphball tunnel. It's
right after the first bomb block

Edit: Sneaky, you might want to pick up a third super. There are 3 green doors in the WS on the way to Phantoon, and no enemy nearby has a high drop rate for supers.

Hmm... that would actually work and keep the percentage the same since mbs glass requires 32 missiles and 2 sms. I'm still trying as many wacky ideas to get past that room in maridia without the HJ, but to no avail. I have found a few interesting secret worlds though.

Okay so I just did Ridley without Ice beam and it's such a close fight that 4 e-tanks is almost possible! Your hack is driving me crazy with almost possible 4 e-tanks and almost possible no HJ >.< But I've at least knocked another % down. Wave beam isn't skippable without adding another 2 e-tanks.

Well, if you think about it, no HJ is impossible without ice beam, which might be skippable otherwise. The metroids only take 1 power bomb to kill, and have a super high drop rate for them.

Ooo... You have a point there... I still want to skip another energy tank  laugh new. And even if metroids didn't, there is always the option of returning to the ship, whatever it takes for lowest %.

EDIT: More battles with Ridley (since I forgot that I'm going to have 3 super missiles rather than 2) and I can make it 4 e-tanks with the ice beam, and if Ridley required 1 less charged shot, I could do it without ice beam, but I'm 4 energy off even with a perfect fight

I've been hating this hack for 1 simple reason... the bosses, i mean, wtf at Draygon and Phantoon? those hit a crapload and they can obliberate you in 3 runs, even if you "try" and avoid them (im looking at you draygon)

so far i cheated on those 2 bosses... i feel... dirty 8(

A thing i noticed too, some rooms have many similarities with gravy :o

Actually, I didn't change Phantoon very much at all, just his room. Draygon... yes... very hard...

Haha. He is rather difficult to dodge, but it can be done.

There are many similarities because they are both halfhacks made by the same person. Also, I didn't change very many of the rooms completely, so the rooms will be similar to the original SM.

Sneaky, that's quite the Ridley fight.

Quote from Sneaky Paradox:

GT wasn't so easy, I might pick up another e-tank before it. But all I really did was jump and fire charged ice+plasmas in him. Like I said before, if I was lucky, I could have pumped my 7 supers into it and made the battle a little quicker.

Ridley was cake too, 7 e-tanks at the very most are needed to kill him.
I began the battle with a charged plasma+ice+wave and pumped my 7 super missiles into him and then I just used my charged shots and got the early kill by getting Ridley to grab me.

I was such a noob  laugh new.

Good job Sturmvogel!

Well I'm still deciding on which items to pick up, so it may be a little longer before I begin. I'm not going to make a test run, I will post the segments up when I get past segment 4. I'm being lazy about it so it will probably be a little while before they are finished.

SUPER EDIT!!!!!:

HELL YEAH! I knew there was some way to do this. I've done the zebetite skip! It can't work on the first one, but the second one is a perfect candidate.

Well I decided to quit speedrunning Soup again and take up pokemon sapphire I mean...  I have finished planning which items to pick up, I just needed to test a few more things in Lower Norfair which I have posted on youtube. Also MB required more missiles than I expected so I can't get that 2nd super pack.

So yeah, shouldn't be too much longer! And then I can work on my sapphire run, weeeeeee! Wait a sec... Brisingr comes out tomorrow... >.<

You will need to return to Crateria and head towards the blue brinstar area via the original's path to morphball.

you will need to cross the acid room

Yo.
Did you pay attention to whether or not your Super Metroid (JU) rom had a header? Check the first page of this topic for whether or not this patch is Headered or Unheadered (never played this, so I can't tell you off the top of my head,) then make sure your rom is changed to fit.

BTW, a header is $200 bytes at the beginning of your rom that some games just have (for no good reason.) You can tell your rom is unheadered if it came with the name Super Metroid (JU) (!).smc, the (!) marking a headerless, untouched copy. If you need to header or unheader your rom, download a copy of SMILE (recommended for beginners) at http://jathys.zophar.net, or SNESTool, which is the more advanced option. If none of this works, you need a new rom.

*Whew*  That was exhausting to write. I really need to keep a copy of this somewheres so I can pull it up for newbie reference...

Headers had a purpose: internal testing of SNES games by game designers, using backup hardware. Not any more, though.
