I don't know whether I should be sad, angry, or hopeless.

In a speed run - my first speed run in Super Metroid, in fact - I was going along almost perfectly, I had just killed Draygon at about 0:45, and so I went to the surface to use the glitch I had descovered and entirely skip Lower Norfair and Tourian. And here comes the nasty part.

My glitch falters, and ZSNES crashes. :( :( :( :(

NOTE: This was before I found out that that kind of glitch only happens on emus and is completely random.

well, if you tried to glitch it then you clearly weren't speedrunning >_>  and there are such things as save states, which if you were willing to cheat, then I'm sure you'd have pleanty of....  personally I don't feel very badly for something like this =P

Heh, you don't really know much about this site, huh?

A glitch to skip Tourian, i.e., the end of the game, would be rather different from skipping Spore Spawn or the zebetites, so I don't know that that shows ignorance of the site.

Yeah, the reset glitch is not used in any speedrun I saw, such as Any, Low, and 100%. Only Murder Beam (Plasma + Spazer) can be used against Ridley, Torizo (Screw Attack) and -- more damaging -- Mother Brain, I think. The reset glitch might allow you to finish the game immediately, so it's just an easy ending... I think it's why Reset glitch is not accepted.

Er...Murder Beam is all five beams, not just Plasma + Spazer.

Yeah, sorry. Abreviation for even Plasma + Spazer.

Doesn't the Reset glitch also only work on an emulator?

No, reset glitch works on both emus and carts. It works on cart but at a different place. I saw it on scu, There.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
The reset glitch works on both (although slightly differently).
The end-game glitch *only* works on emulator. The SNES will simply crash.

Time bomb set get out fast!
I've done the reset glitch more than once on my SNES.  It's not exactly easy to do, but it does work.  With care, you can even reset all the way back to the Ceres station (where, as Brickroad notes, you can see Ridley's invisible form with the X-Ray Scope).

I don't find the reset glitch hard at all.  And Ceres Station is reached when you reset the game, save, and reload the file.  Too bad it takes your missiles at Ceres...
