It might not be a big deal to some people as it might be a big deal to others.

I bought Prime at launch, then, lets just say bad things happened that I was forced to sell all of my games and most of my DVDs to pay for some things.  I nearly sold my Cube as well, but thankfully it didn't come down to that.

Now we forward nearly a year later to the present.  I then was using my roommates copy of the game for a while until I decided to get my own copy again.  I knew that some of you guys here said that the Players Choice edition, as well as other versions had the scan jumping technique taken out and that it was increasingly difficult to find a version 1.0 disc.

As luck would have it, I worked at a used video game store for just over two years, then this past December I was fired, but I'm still on good terms there with my old manager and ex-co-workers.  They had plenty of Players Choice copies there for a long time and one day while I was looking I saw one that didn't have that logo on it, but needed to make sure.  I tested the game out and yes, it was a 1.0 copy.  Or at least a copy where scan jumping and sequence breaking is possible.  I bought it right away for the low low price of $22.99.

Then, about a week ago, I was at Target to pick up a closeout copy of PoP for the Cube for $29.99 while it's still $50.00 everywhere else, when I saw that they had Metroid Prime for $29.99 and it didn't have the Players Choice logo on it.

Now, I don't know for sure if it's a 1.0 copy or not, but there's a slim chance that it is.  I thought all major retailers only had the Players Choice copies, because that's all I ever saw at all the Best Buys and EBs in my area... I was shocked to see a new copy of Prime that wasn't a P.C.

If anybody is looking for a non-players choice copy of Prime, I suggest Target, unless this isn't that uncommon where you live, then disregard everything I have written up to this point.  Just don't forget this...

Metroid Prime Rules.

I re-purchased Prime and got a non-Player's Choice version at EB on February 25th brand new and it's a 0-01 and they had about seven copies left.  That's the only other place I've seen non-Player's Choice copies of the game.

And as far as 01 differences, I haven't seen anything different from 00.  I get crashes in the same places and all the old exploits work.

I refer to 01 because your 1.00 is a bit confusing since they're 0-00 (Launch Copy), 0-01 (Crept up somewhere before the PC version), and 0-02 (Player's Choice) so If I'm completely off base here lemme know.

Well, I don't really know the whole schematics of which version is which actually.  I thought they just went from 1.0 to whatever version is out now, with 1.0 being the launch copy... I don't know about 00 as you put it...

Oh well  8)

the 0-00, 0-01 and 0-02 (player's choice) numbers are printed on the data side of the disc around the inside ring. see this thread for more information.

yours was simply made in japan. we have some reports of those, mostly around the west coast. guess they didn't think they could meet demand with one production line on launch day.

Yeah, I live in Wisconsin and I bet that there are quite a few 0-00 JPN discs in my area as well.

I also noticed a difference between the two... Mine is better  8)
