For those of you who can't use your deduction skills portion of your brain, VNR stands for Varialess Norfair Run.

I got the idea for this after seeing Saturn's Reverse Boss Order Run (RBO) but never having him complete it since he's sorta...  Not been here much.  Since I have no way of telling if he abandoned the project or not, I decided to pick up kinda where he left off.  Kinda.

I've fought no bosses except Spore Spawn (Because I can't Crystal Flash) and even gone as far as to escape Torizo, since I'm doing this on the PAL version of the game.  Like I said, I beat Spore Spawn for his Super Missile pack, and fought no other bosses, but I did get every major upgrade and expansion I could possibly pick up without going after a boss.

But I'm on way to Ridley now.  Keep in mind this not a RBO, this is me getting in and out of Norfair and Kicking Ridley's ass on my way through.

AS OF 6/19/06:  I have finished up to the save station right above the elevator into Lower Norfair, sometimes referred to as Ridley's Lair.  I've done this in two segments.  The first is from the elevator shaft to Brinstar to the giant bubble room that is non-heated.  The second segment is from where the first segment stopped to the save station above Lower Norfair, also not heated.  I posted in the help topic yesterday that I need a reliable way to pull off Crystal Flash on emulator, and this hasn't changed.  I'm still looking for a way to Crystal Flash, or else the buck stops here.

Map the L nad R buttons to the same button. I use Q and W, so when I need to Crystal Flash, I map them both to Q.

Saturn's working on it, it's just that lower Norfair requires way too much testing to stay alive yet be as fast as possible. You can also track his progress here since the appropriate m2k2 topic got way too messed up.

By the way, which version of ZSNES should I use?

Ah. I remember I wanted to watch that too but it seems that I've finally forgotten about that.
However, one of my ZSNESes worked. The first segment was... tedious. :D
