Old news.

They did that because the older generation demanded bigger screens, btw. lol

The fuck? I'm perfectly fine with my classics DS's screen size. And those are supposed to be smaller than the DSi's screens.

I know, I know.  I haven't upgraded from my brick yet either, but this one's being targeted toward old folks, and I think it's daft.  If you're gonna make a DS that's only marginally bigger, but has a screen twice as big, market it for everybody!

If the price is right, I may consider upgrading to this, just for the big screen, which (unlike the DSi) is actually a worthwhile size increase.

You do realize they only resized the screen, and didn't shit to the resolution? That means game graphics will be upscaled and might look a lot less smooth than on a regular DS.

I can't see that on a screen this small it'll be noticable at all.  Anyway, I'm a man born and raised with pixels, so I probably wouldn't be too offended if you do see a difference. grin new

I'll probably upgrade to this since my DS got stolen awhile back.

Why am I so amazing?
Every time I think about wanting to upgrade my original DS, a new damn model comes out. Forget it. This is why I don't bother with PCs.

I've seen Nintendo getting a lot of flack for this on gaming sites because it's just like Toozin said. FOUR DS versions in what, five years now? I still have the original DS I got in 06 I think it was, and it works just fine for me. When I do end up getting another soon so that I can trade/battle between my Pokemon games (Which is probably my main reason I want a second one, other than having a backup in case my original has a problem down the line) it probably won't be this one. 200 for a bigger screen, 170 for the original DSI, or 130 for a DS Lite? One of the other two sound MUCH better than this, as I can see the games just fine already on my original DS. Although the battery life is supposed to be the best on the new DS isn't it? (If you don't have the brightness set at max)

well, it is intended for old people because of their bad sight.

this won't replace the regular DSi. think of it as a bigger size of a tv you have. your tv isn't suddendly useless.

if there's young people interested, that's a bonus for nintendo. i'm interested because the battery life will be longer (on par or better than DSL)

Possibly.  I just didn't feel that it warranted a topic of its own.

Bigger screens = win.  I'm not sure I'm willing to get one though since I have a DS Lite that works fine.

I own the Ds (original) , Ds Lite & the Dsi. When I paid for the Dsi I paid $169.99 times that with 6.250% which is $10.62 in tax. The total I paid was $180.61. I kept the receipt in the box. I will stick with the dsi.

Looking at the picture, look at the Ds Lite. It is tilted at a certain angle. Which makes the ds lite look bad. It is another attempt to block the use of flash cartridges. This is why Nintendo has too much time on their hands.

WHAT does this have to do with anything?

This seems to be more expensive than the dsi. I wouldn't pay $218.87 plus tax & shipping and handling. Thats my opinion.

My dad is a supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service and assures me that "shipping and handling" is bullshit that companies use to get more money out of you. On second thought I think I'll just get a DSI when I feel the urge to replace my stolen DS Lite.

it depends on whether what they sold you costs more than you paid them. in that case the shipping would actually help the seller make money.

i guess it's still deceptive, though.

With Spirit Tracks coming out in 5 weeks, I'd say the urge should be upon you soon.

I think they could have marketed the DSi XL a lot better than aiming it at old people.

If you're not desperate for one, I'd probably just wait, and get one of these.

It's only about one centimetre larger than the original DS, and is still substantially thinner. Very Happy
