So, everybody knows about Shinespark and Walljump. But I was messing around the other day and I found a new move - this crazy spinning kick thing. :| It seems kind of random, and I can't pull it off consistently, but I'm trying to find out exactly how to do it. I've been calling it a "whirlwind kick" for lack of a better name.

Anyways, I've only done it two or three times so far, but the last time I was smart enough to capture it on video:

Whirlwind kick #1

Edit: Whirlwind kick #2

Until I find out how to execute it reliably, I can't really hit any enemies with it, so I'm not sure what it will do... but I assume it will be awesome. :D

The video looks real...  You sure this ain't a joke?  :P  The frame count looks too high, the animation -too smooth.  Shocked

You're up to something.  laugh new

But seriously.  If it is real; ....  *is speechless*

Green-Kirby, ROAR!
Fake. I know.
Those sprites are not in samus sprite sheet. There for impossible to be in the real Super metroid.

Let me guess the "metroid engine"?

Real or not, that is very cool to see. Good find Moose. Do you remember what buttons you used for it or anything of that sort?

@Green-Kirby (off topic):
I sent you a PM yesterday I believe, did you get it?

I should've said "Whether it was real or not"...my bad.

:P It's no joke - I just pulled it off for the fourth time. I got a better quality movie with Hypercam this time, and you can see me moving around before I do the kick. I'll edit this post in a minute once it's done uploading.

It seems to involve pressing left + right at once, and I've only ever gotten it to go to the right. So I guess it was kind of an in-progress thing that they removed at the last minute.

Edit: Here you go.

...Really. Left and right. On a d-pad? As GK already said, there's no sprites for it.

I'm using Hypercam, so clearly it's on an emulator. As for sprites, I know dick all about ROM hacking... so if you say the sprites don't exist, then I guess I can't really argue with you. Even though I'm, you know, seeing them in-game. :P

Edit: I give up for the night. Maybe I'll try and make an emulator movie tomorrow (I'll have to learn how first).

Why is it a good find even if it's fake?

I just find it interesting since I haven't seen anything like that in SM. That's pretty much my only reason...

You would find it interesting that someone used a hacked ROM to do a move that's impossible in the normal game?

Um yeah, I don't really see a problem with that. Is it uninteresting to you? Not trying to step on your toes, just asking.

Just seems kind of strange.  It's like finding a Game Genie code interesting because it gives you infinite health.

That's frankly one of the stupidest fakes I've ever seen-- it goes completely against anything I could picture Samus ever doing. She's not some martial arts whiz. >_>

There's one way to prove it's real.  Have Samus holding up a copy of a recent news paper showing the headline and date, then do the move.  laugh new

That almost reminds me of that animated gif of Spider-Man dancing or the one where Spider-man, a robot, Hiachi-? (that old guy from Tekken -I think?), and some girl in a short dress are doing a line dance and choral kick...  or whatever.  :P

Untill we can download this in an .smv (or similar) file....  We're all calling it fake.  Sorry. :(

And I'd be very happy if you can prove us wrong.  grin new

I vote that as Post of the Year.

Also even though it's obviously from the metroid engine or other related project and NOT the original SM, nice job there. Too bad you couldn't hold out until April 1st, 2008; but I guess it had been fun as it lasted.
