In fact, this video was Saturn's "early" beta-test Ridley battle released... somewhere in summer, I believe? It was meant to be a test; thus, it wasn't fully optimized (also, he didn't use the stuck-in-the-door Crystal Flash suggested by catnap222 after the release). He has already got past that segment in his actual run, and the final Ridley battle and the escape can be seen in his third trailer.
ING-X: Seen your smv. How come you're using rerecords and slowdown and still end up being slower than Scarlet and Hotarubi in nearly every place possible? :D
Saturn, did you make this? It doesn't look like your work.
Yes, I did it and as moozooh said, this was just a low optimized beta test, mainly to find out exactly if it is possible at all to kill Ridley in time without Suit. This test also helped me to improve the previous rooms of lower norfair by finding better moves I used in the final run.

Right, it was a TAS, or maybe a half-TAS as I almost didn't use frame advance on it. Just slowdown and savestates in the critical parts, and of course the turbo button while firing missiles.

Because my frame rate was 14% and my rerecord count was 61. Like I said I don't think I have enough patience to make a decent TAS. And Red Scarlet made a TAS?
Neither RS nor Hotarubi made TASes. The fact that you are slower than themshows that you mad a terrible TAS.
Even with 14% speed, it's very easy to not jump on reaching every single door in Ceres, miss all the platforms falling down, and correct the hundreds of other huge mistakes you made.
It doesn't have anything to do with speed or framerate; you're just doing a lot of needless and/or unprecise actions (jumping before doors, avoiding damage where a boost would be beneficial, etc.) that even Scarlet and Hotarubi didn't do, despite them doing their runs on a console.
Wow, I didn't think you have to jump in front of the doors on PAL. It's like... the game is magically making you do this! I didn't realize; just because it's PAL, it makes you make so many mistakes by somehow screwing with your brain...
Oh, those damn europeans, why are you doing this to ING-X?!

LOL
Anyway, the reason I had to jump before every door is because of the PAL version's game engine is slower, meaning that the door opens slower. You're right, if you jump before a door, you go slower, which is why it can be helpful on Zebes. But in Ceres, the doors don't open until you get near them, so... maybe I should:
1. Get the NTSC ROM 2. Not jump before doors in Ceres 3. Try harder to miss platforms going down
Got three right here. They're from ZSNES, since Snes9x just isn't working right on my PC. Do ZMV's actually go slower when the player uses a slowdown and stuff like that? Tell me when you see them!
P.S. These are nothing more than teasers/trailers. The final result will be done on Snes9x, but will take very long to make. By the way, can I record one movie of the whole game while taking breaks in between with Snes9x? If so, how?
ING-X, the proper way to handle that would have been to just not post, let alone double post, at all. If there's interest, people will reply; if not, oh well-- there's nothing that can be done.
Also, apologising for a meaningless double post does not give it value. Don't do that.

I couldn't watch these 3 movies. On which ZSNES version did you record them? It's very important to mention this, because of too many different WIPs that were released in the last years. Otherwise people won't be able to watch them without searching around for the right version.
I'm also looking forward to see your final work on Snes9x. Good luck.

What about my other question? How do I record the whole movie without sitting in front of the screen for 2500 hours straight?
I. You start recording. You save a state while recording. You stop recording.
II. You play your movie without read-only flag checked. You load the state you created. You continue recording from that state.
Not that it can't be figured by oneself, but it's also written in the TASVideos FAQ which you could have read at least for this specific answer. ;) BTW, I couldn't watch the ZMVs as well. They are heavily version-dependant, so it wasn't a very cool idea to use ZSNES for TASing in the first place. Although the new version released just yesterday at last seems to have a good rerecording code implemented.

Alright, I know I change my decisions a lot, but after downloading the new ZSNES version, I've decided to do my speed run on that.
Edit: Alright, Snes9x it is. Like you said ZSNES desyncs a lot. I will be doing this on Snes9x. Final answer.
