I'm sorry about the double post but I think that this is worth the bump.

Last night I discovered that during the last phase of the Mother Brain Battle.

If you mess up the timing of your jump when the metroid releases from mother brain and you find yourself stuck on the ground.

All that you need to do is use a quick squirt of the x-ray beam and your back in action.

Like all great glitches this was discovered by accident, but it is very useful for SS runs because the whole run is not lost right at the end if you stuff it up now.

That's cool !. The stand up glitch overall has I think 4 places where you can crash the game/fail it with Samus kneeling on the floor unable to get up.

-Right at the start when the metroid arrives in the room to attack MB. Just jump or keep space jumping during this part. When the Metroid is 'in' the room you can safely land.

- The one you mentioned after the Metroid lets go of MB to go and heal you. You have to find the correct time to jump for this one through a little bit of practice but it's easy enough.

- When the Metroid dies and your looking up and shooting MB, make sure you don't jump and shoot during this part as there's a moment when the game goes through a little spasm. You can see it do it on my run. If I jumped and did that shot the game would crash.

- Last one is when the Metroid is officially dead and the background is black about to turn back to normal brightness. If you shoot during this you can crash the game. More accurately it just plays extremely slowly with one frame per 5 seconds or something crazy like that. Strangely I've known the game to actually recover from this but that's quite rare. Anyway to prevent this just shoot a little after the background turns bright.

I feel it is necessary to highlight these 4 annoying things that if you do incorrectly they cause the glitch to fail, if anybody is having trouble with it.

I just tested the x-ray beam again on Mother Brain, and It will work any time that Samus gets stuck on the ground kneeling (after the glitch has been initiated by removing the varia suit before Mother Brain uses her Hyper Beam).

So no need to jump at all, as an option just keep the x-ray scope highlighted, and when Samus kneels down tap the run button and youre free to move.

Ive also found that when the Metroid dies and youre charging or shooting, the game will 'flip' Samus around. At this stage you can safely get in 6 charge shots (7 if your quick) before the Hyper beam is activated.

When the Hyper Beam is activated Samus' sprite will go wierd like you said, but this indicates that you are safe to shoot.

I believe that the 1 frame every 5 seconds crash happens when the Hyper and Ice/Wave/Plasma beams are on the screen at the same time, thats why I suggest only 6 shots after the flip then wait till your sprite goes wierd/the screen brightens before you start shooting. This will give you the least chance of crashing the game.
