oh, my secret trick has just discovered by someone... :|
I feel vexed because Im going to use and publish this trick in Legacy any% run.

btw, Saturn's "The Shortest Charge" is little bit different than mine "Ashibumi Charge".
I can charge at the entrance of gauntlet, but can't at etecoon.
Saturn's way is better than mine.

maybe arrow key tapping pattern is defferent from mine.
my pattern is "arrow key, arrow key, nothing, arrow key, arrow key, nothing......"
repeating "push arrow key in 2 frames and relese 1 frame" until Samus gets the first boost point.

how about you, Saturn?

Wow, what a coincident! :)

I also wanted to keep it secret until the next teaser (which btw should be done in about a week) to present a new trick to everyone but since it was already out here I didn't mind to post it yet.

My way to Charge is by pressing the direction button for 4 frames and release it for 1, then repeating. After several tests and calculations this turned out to be the slowest possible way to let Samus move before the first Boost-Counter check.

While frame-specifics aren't acheivable on console, knowing the specifics can help get the timing down better.  Other than the 2 places where Saturn charged in the demo, do you guys know of any other places this could potentially be used to help out?  It'd probably be of more use to any% than anything, but in the times those runs take, every second counts.

You are talking about TAS conditions here right? The only other place where the shortest Charge could be of use in a any% run would be in the room left of the Missile Pack that leads to Wrecked Ship. You can charge on the right side after you come out of the hidden passage from the elevator to save some sec detour time compared to charging on the left side of that room. Other than that I can't see any more places that could be of use for a any% run.

On console though, I doubt there are places where this will really be of use. All of the humanly possible short charges were already executed in the previous runs AFAIK.

I don't know how to use this in any%
but there are many oppotunities in 100%run.

here are the examples.

Thank you. Now I can charge at etecoon.

Wow thanks, there are many of them. Looks Interesting.

The Zip is password protected though, so unless you can tell us we aren't able to check them out. :(

Nice smvs! I especially liked the one in the Gravity Suit room, the one that lets you shinespark to Wrecked Ships Energy Tank, and the Gauntlet one entering faster than me by using the Super Missile to open the door faster. If I could manipulate this Super Missile refill later, you can say this was my first little mistake I did. :-(

Although I knew that a Super Missile would speed things up a bit there I was too careful to not waste them unnecessary. Oh well...

On console it would be everywhere faster to travel with shinespark. Take the Red Soil Brinstar Shaft or Old Tourian shaft.

How much tiles can this tech potentially save in an unassisted run (in "perfect" conditions)?

BTW, it's a pity you can't shinespark Phantoon in SM like you can in Redesign... It would save another two seconds in a TAS beating him humiliatingly in under two. :D

I like Big Butts and I can not lie
can you do this in the zebetite room so you don't need to keep the blue suit for speed-boots 14%

I don't know about in the zebetite room, but as I remember, you could get a charge in Tourian somewhere even without this trick.  So blue suit trick isn't required for 14% speed, AFAIK

you can charge on the ridley SJ

also on high red brinstar, you can wait for the block you use to get up to reform and maybe do a SJ there

Azor,

Provided that it's possible, I'm not sure if a superjump at the top of the red brinstar shaft would really be faster.  You would have to wait for the block to reform, then you would have the lag time at the end of the boost.  In my opinion, spike jumping is much faster.  Also, you would need to have that technique perfected; waiting for the block to reappear and then botching the trick would not be cool.

Best of luck to you with your speed-running efforts.
