Hey all,
I just wanted to post here and make anyone who isn't already aware of our brand new Bestiary that we released on 10/16, which was also the 15th Anniversary of our website.

A little background on the Bestiary:
We hope to eventually have a 100% complete compendium of every single Metroid creature in existence.  We are currently focusing on the Classic series, and when that is finished, we will focus efforts to complete the Primes, and then finish off with Other M.
The Bestiary contains custom artwork from over 20 artists, I personally recruited from DeviantArt.  At the moment we have over 130 different artworks for over 120 entries (Some entries have multiple artworks).

There's no catch, no fee, just enjoyment and information for all.  I really hope you enjoy the Bestiary, and feel free to leave any feedback for us, good or bad, it's all greatly appreciated!  And feel free to pass it on to anyone who may be interested.

Thanks for your time.

Servin' you realness!!
Coolness.  Surprised to see the same enemy listed multiple times, one for each game it appears in, instead of just one listing which includes info and images from all games.

Heh, I love how all the fanart makes the enemies look way more menacing than they actually are.

I kinda liked the Mocktroid art since it makes them look quite nasty even compared to a normal Metroid.

Not that I'd want to meet either of these things.

Da hell wid you :)
I tried looking for that curious Geemer type creature in wrecked ship from Super Metroid. The one where you pass through a transit between rocky wrecked ship to the wrecked ship interior on the way to the gravity suit. It sits above you doing nothing, following your movements and sits above you if you stop. Is it just one of the colored Geemer's mentioned or is it another creature listed in the bestiary ?

[edit] Yeah I guess Super is still being completed as I recall quite a few monsters not yet listed. That big fiery snake in lower Norfair as you screw attack through the pillars, the Shaktool in Maridia on the way to spring ball. But so far so good on this MDb

@ Behemoth: you're in luck, Shaktool was just added recently.  There are about 12 or so entries left before Super is complete.  Even less for M2.

The Geemer that follows you in the Northern Crateria/Wrecked Ship area is the Orange Geemer.  Go here and go to "misc"

Nice !. That's the first proper mention of the orange Geemer I've ever seen. But perhaps I just never looked hard enough Embarassed. Silly me for not checking the extra tabs on each organism though.

It has a different mechanic to the other Geemer's, like basic homing programming. I reckon they wee going to make some rooms have lots of them and they all follow you and they would become quite a pest, or something. So my guess is they were going to put more of them in the game but just forgot about them, and decided to leave that lone orange one there as a sort of developer joke of what might have been. Or they may have even just forgot about it in the final copy of the game.

I look forward also to a complete Metroid 2 and Super Bestiary. Hell I look forward to all of them being complete, including Other M.
