I'm not sure if anyone else knows about this or not, but here is what I did... There is a Super Metroid "SRAM Editor" that I used to start Samus off with the morph ball and the bomb immediately after she lands on Zebes. The tunnel underneath the first save room you pass (on the map) isn't passable unless you have the morph ball and bomb (duh). But before all of the enemies come out to play... try using cheats to let Samus have those 2 items so she can enter that room early, to see:

It's the beam of light that follows Samus' every move! ...except it's coming from the Chozo Statue? Why did Nintendo put this here? Or is it just a glitch? o_o... I honestly have no idea. It could be something leftover that Nintendo put in the game, then changed their minds. And this room isn't accessible until the "event" (or whatever) changes and the enemies come out, so they decided to just leave it. Just a theory. But I have no clue why that is.
Anyway, here is another screenshot:

I also tried rolling into the Chozo Statue's palms, and of course nothing happened. The item was not even there when I came into the room, it was just empty. Oh, and here is where it's located on the map:

You should try doing a crystal flash in that room. Lotsa fun with lightshows. :P

It's a roomstate programmed into the game, with the same eye-light as the one that sees you pick up the morphing ball. Nintendo programmed it in, even though it's impossible to reach in the game normally.

I figured it was the same eye-light thing after i posted, except behind the chozo statue's sprites. I haven't tried the crystal flash there, but i'll go do that now o.o

I disabled the Chozo Statue layer (why didn't I think of doing this before...?)

It's weird because the eye is BLUE instead of red. My guess is that it has to do with the palette, though.

Yeah, and you should also trim the post you're quoting to the relevant parts, especially when the post contains three big images.

Mister ...
That's kinda creepy stuff. I've played very little of SM, and I don't think I ever got the morph ball, not too sure since that was ages ago. But that light 'sees' you when you get the morph ball?  I don't remember that....  Very interesting and creepy.

You can also use the "Reset Glitch" to have a search light come out of the Chozo statue. It looks just like that.
