Mister ...
I pulled off my very fist mockball today.  I've skipped over SporeSpawn for now, and am raiding Norfair.  Feels pretty good.

Now I just need to practice mockball to get the Early Ice Beam.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mockball is hell starting out, but once you start doing it more often, it comes naturally.

For some really good mockball practice, try playing the original version of Cliffhanger. :P

That is by far my favorite thing to do in Super Metroid, I don't know why but it's extremely satisfying.
It's also the only mockball trick I can do consistently.

:-s I understand, but you need left and right handed guitars, too... You can't alternate hands on a guitar. If you just flip a right handed guitar over and play it left handed you'd have your high E string where you low E should be. That's why there's a market far left handed musicians. Same goes for bowed instruments. So Samus is playing a left handed bass. She's using her dominant hand to bow. See what I mean?

You don't understand. There are NO orchestral instruments made for different dominant hands. It's all the same. Left handed people and right handed people play the same instrument. Anyone with a shred of orchestra experience would know. Okay, back on topic now.  :o

Cliffhanger didn't have too many mockball places as far as I remember; try Soup.

Actually.... I think Gravy is better for mockball practice. I cut down a bit on mockball quantity in Soup and went for trickier stuff, mostly involving speedball.

Where am I?
How is this thread still active? lol

I practice mockballing in the landing site room, using the ship as a ceiling and use the same place for speedballing practice (bombable blocks are fun to break with speed ball)

I do find getting ice beam hard for whatever reason.

There is plenty of space in the original game to practice.  I hope you have a usb controller, mockballing with a keyboard isn't much fun.
Also, a link to the last time this came up:

Actually, I can do some very low mockballs even in realtime, on keyboard.

Actually, it is entirely possible to flip a right handed guitar and play it left handed. I seem to remember hearing that Jimi Hendrix did that.

That's nothing— Tim Armstrong (of Operation Ivy, Rancid, Transplants, et al.) is left–handed but when he learned to play, he took a right–handed guitar, flipped it, and didn't change the stringing. I think he may have since started restringing them, but that's pretty bad ass for a little kid to do.

I wouldn't expect a kid to restring a guitar, it's just too much trouble to be worth their time. It may be more difficult to learn to play backwards, but kids are ridiculously persistent when they want to be.
