Ready and willing.
We're getting a lot of these. Should we just post a sign up somewhere that says "If you use the space/time beam, expect random shit to happen"?

Actually all that stuff in the first post are completely normal results of saving after Space/Time.  It resets everything, so you see the intro again.  In the MB fight flashback, you have Screw Attack, so when flashback-Samus spin jumps, SA activates, which takes Samus's colors out of "flashback mode," and you see she's wearing the Gravity suit.    The reason for the no missiles is, IIRC, that the opening sets Samus's missiles to four for the MB flashback.

That´s exactly what happened to me! Lost all missiles but had everything other! Stupid, that you still need 100 plasma shots to kill Ridley... i think this only happens if you save at the gunship!Because at other save stations it didn´t happen! That´s crappy!

It only happens the first time you save after using the reset glitch.

Check the super metroid forum.  There's only about 50 topics dealing with it.  You also might want to check the glitch guide on gameFAQS.

Why don't we put something about the space/time beam and reset glitch in the "other" section for SM?

Here you go.  I can also type up a short description of it for the site if you want.

And you're right; Firefox is infinitely better at uploading attachments than Safari.

This glitch causes everything in the game except your current equipment to reset to its original state. To preform it, you must equip the ice, plasma, and spazer beams simultaneously, fire once, then leave the room you are in.In order to have the spazer and plasma beams equipped at the same time, you have to first equip the spazer beam, then select something in the "boots" section, then press left and A at the same time. If, after preforming the glitch, you save and quit the game, when you next play, you will rewatch the game's opening sequence, then restart at Ceres Station with all equipment intact except for missiles.

Is that okay, or is it a bit too wordy?

There are lots of wordy descriptions on the site, so that doesn't seem likely to be a problem... not as much as "preform", anyway. :D  Actually, it doesn't seem wordy enough; it leaves out some stuff, like where it can be performed and what direction you have to face to do it.

The Murder Beam is already described on the site (though not very thoroughly) so a reference to that and how they differ would be appropriate.  Should also specify that resetting the game to its original state means that all the items are available for collection again, allowing one to get > 100%, and explain why the missiles disappear after the intro, because that's interesting.  A clip of the intro after saving/quitting would be good.  I can't watch the .smv you posted so I don't know if it shows any of that.

This glitch causes everything in the game except your current equipment to reset to its original state.  This means that all items and bosses will be back to collect/kill again, and all doors that did not start out blue will revert to their original state. To perform it, you must equip the space/time beam, which is smilar to the murder beam, except it is an uncharged shot and the wave beam is not equipped, fire once, then leave the room you are in.  It cannot be done in every room, as the room must be fairly large, and even then it still doesn't work in some rooms.  The above video shows one possible location. If, after preforming the glitch, you save and quit the game, when you next play, you will rewatch the game's opening sequence, then restart at Ceres Station with all equipment intact except for missiles, which vanish because during the flashback to the Mother Brain fight, the game gives Samus four missiles to use, then takes them away again.

Is that better?  And the video just shows the reset glitch being performed in the room off the escape shaft.  I didn't think anything else would be necessary.

Sounds good to me.  I don't know much about this game's glitches, however, so my opinion may not be as helpful as that of someone who knows a lot about glitches.  But it sounds to me like it would teach someone who has never heard of the space/time beam.

Oh my god.. i found a  glitch with crocomire.. when i beat him i ran to spikes and ran back And used my grapple on him when he sunk down and so did i... then i was able to roam around but still get hit by acid.. i went right and enterd a strange room but i died shortly after.. Maybe that was the green chozo ? i dont know i died to soon and its hard to create..

Firstly, yeah, grapple beam does wierd things to Crocamire and can be used to get out of the room.  That's been known for a while.

Secondly, green chozo simply does not exist.  At all.

Finally, glitch topic.

Dumb Question #3562: You guys generally use ZSNES for emulation right?

It seems about half-and-half between ZSNES and Snes9x.  All the TASers use Snes9x, everyone with a Mac (me!) has to use Snes9x, I think Kejardon uses ZSNES, it seems like most random people use ZSNES.

It's actually really annoying, especially since I can't watch .ZMVs because there isn't a ZSNES for Mac.

actually ... now that macs are x86 afaik there's no reason there couldn't be. of course iirc you have a ppc machine so that wouldn't help you. :\
