What do you think? Is Phazon gone forever, or do you think it is still around.

I believe it is still around. Phazon is not like a hive mind. In a hive, only the queen (in this case, Phaaze) can reproduce, while the workers (Phazon) cannot. But Phazon is capable of reproducing itself. My theory is that Phaaze was the only planet that could send out Leviathans to corrupt other planets with phazon, turning them into planets that support a phazon based environment, like Phaaze. These "Phaaze clones", however, cannot produce leviathans. Therefore when Phaaze was destroyed, phazon wasn't destroyed, but it became less of a threat because now there was no planet that could send out Leviathans to corrupt other planets. Simply put, Phaaze is gone, but phazon and the planets fully corrupted by Phaaze which support phazon based environments are still around. It is kind of simple if you think about it.

Why am I so amazing?
Phazon is gone because they're done telling stories about it. The end.

Phazon was only cool when used as a weapon. At the end of Prime 1. Other than that, it was a tool to resurrect Ridley and Metroid Prime.

My fiance asked me what Phazon is and the best I could come up with is "a multi-purpose plot device."

I mean, what the fuck IS Phazon? It's straightforeward enough in Prime, but by the time you're fighting sentient globs of it in Corruption, it's like... the fuck?

Servin' you realness!!
I'm over this and any other topic that seems to not realize that metroid is fiction.

Well duh, I know its fiction.

The thing is that Phazon being gone has yet to be confirmed. I also saw in a video on the official metroid website where the makers of the prime series said this: "Will we ever see Dark Samus or Phazon again. Um, do you want to see Dark Samus or Phazon again. It is really up to the fans." Or something like that.

And if you ask me, Phazon seems like too powerful a substance to be gotten rid of that easily.

I know that you know it's fiction.  I apologize if it came off sounding smart.  It's just that I recently joined another metroid forum where there are tons of deep discussions that attempt to analyze details of the metroid universe in a way that seems to disregard that none of it is even real, and I guess I'm kinda rolling my eyes over it at this point.  Regardless, that's not your fault and I apologize.

Phazon is as powerful as the plot requires it to be. If they say that destroying Phaaze eliminates it from the universe, then that's what happened. If they want to use it again, then some will survive.

I honestly can't view Phazon as anything but a malable plot device after Echoes and beyond.

Phazon was elemental to the prime series and that series has ended.  In any sci-fi series, the possibilities for writing are ENDLESS, to not take advantage of that freedom and come up with something new as often as you can is lame.
Phazon has become stale in my mind, I say move on to the next idea.

well, i prefer it to be gone the way it went out. there was already too much phazon in the series and prime is not the main series.

now, the Red substance inside the impact crater could make a comeback since they never revisited it after mp1 and it was never implied that it was phazon, it was just a substance "89% more radioactive than phazon" (quote might be wrong btw)

I thought it was called 'Orange Phazon' in the logbook.

I don't think it was a logbook scan.

But it's still called Orange Phazon in the scan.

Yeah, I think they should have made Phaaze essential to the lifespan of Phazon everywhere, so we could be sure that we can be sure it's gone and they won't cheesily revive it in a future game.  I just hope that the Space Pirates have something else to enhance their soldiers with aiwebs_032

i grabbed my mp1 GC copy and checked the scan and the "orange phazon" is never called like that in the scan. it is addressed as a "mutagenic ore 86% more radioactive than phazon" but that doesn't mean it is actual phazon.
people just call it "orange phazon" to give it a name since it is officially unnamed in the game.

Maybe the "mutagenic ore" was the precursor to all Phazon (but not Phazon itself), that's why its so potent.  And that would explain why it could still (very badly, I might add) damage you in the Phazon Suit.

Quote from Toozin:
...It's straightforward enough in Prime, but by the time you're fighting sentient globs of it in Corruption...

I've just disregarded that particular role of Phazon in Corruption (liquid Phazon and the like), since it just makes my head hurt.  Not to mention Phazon Metroids...

I've got a million questions in my head... here's one! Why was the "orange Phazon" only present in the Leviathan on Tallon IV, and not in Phazze or other Leviathans (or anywhere)???
