No, though I HAVE "beaten" Ridley in Ceres.  If you can do enough damage to him, he drops the Metroid, then picks it up and sets the self-destruct as normal.  You don't HAVE to let him beat you up.

yes I have done that too, but Ridley will automatically flee when you sustain 30 or lower energy. So to answer your quesstion yes, but you can't die anyway.

There's a way to dodge those suicidal dodges, I figured it out one time. You have to be standing somewhere in particular, then dodge to another area when he's about to ram. I just don't remember where the positions were.
But he has been beaten (100 shots) without taking a single hit. And he can kill you, he's killed me twice. :P Granted, it was intentional both times...

I know full well that you can "beat" Ridley-- I have about a 75% success rate with that. I'm trying to do it without getting hit though, which is very difficult. I'm thinking it hinges on him shooting fireballs pretty much non-stop...

But I HAVE dodged the suicidal slam a couple of times: I was coming down from a jump when he aimed at me, and he crashed into the door while I landed below. The timing is pretty tough, and there's always the issue of his tail hitting you when he's going back to his wall.

I'll get this though, dun' worry 'bout me!  Twisted Evil

On another note, what is the fastest escape time from Ceres?

Killed you? Killed you? None of his attacks do more than 30 damage. He leaves if you drop below 30 energy. How the hell is that possible?

Easily. Shoot him 99 times, let him knock you down to 31 hp or so, then shoot him while he's moving upwards, and run for his tail. And without all that preperation, it's still possible to end up with exactly 30 hp then get hit twice by his tail before he runs away.
