If you can make it around the Metroids in Tourian, there doesn't seem to be much that stops a 1-item run from being feasible.
If so, why haven't more people attempted it, however ridiculously hard it may be?

I know for certain that there's a

of it. As for why people aren't running it, perhaps people are aware of how boring it may be, so choose not to do it, or maybe they just don't see it as a speed run, as such, which this site is aimed at...
