Well don't you see?  The Phazon made him reborn with his natural form again!

No, no, no, no, no.
Once Phaaze was destroyed all the Phazon corruption left his body and he was once again gifted with his regular body.
Just like Samus!

It makes sense doesn't it?!

this is why i hated mp3's ending. typical filler conclusion.

They really should have had "Good" and "Bad" endings based on how often you used Hypermode.

Hell, they really should have made Hypermode better. No drawbacks, be it story or gameplay, means "lol beams are useless".

I kinda hope there's atleast SOMETHING visual from the end of Fusion in any future games.

the prime series, being a "filler arc", was pretty restricted in what they could do with Samus. they couldn't change her in any permanent way because there were games after them in the timeline. i would guess that if the prime series was at the end of the timeline, they could have added real side effects to Phazon that left Samus changed permanently (like the events of Fusion)

adding the completely convenient plot device that makes phazon disappear as if nothing happened after destroying phaaze was awful. that's the other element that destroyed mp3's ending for me.

I kind of like the idea that there's a separate Samus, the one we saw in Other M, getting bailed out by the Samus from the rest of the series, the one everyone knows and loves.

with how easily the feds can clone shit, it would be possible that Other M's Samus is a clone.

Then watch them spin that on it's head and say it wasn't Other M's Samus that was the clone, but it was every other Samus we've seen.

Just a giant middle finger to everyone who didn't like that portrayal of her.

Sakamoto would earn quite a bit of respect from me if he pulled that. It would be deliciously asshole-ish.

If they did that, Metroid would devolve in to MGS levels of no-one-with-half-a-brain-even-cares-anymore.

Provided Other M didn't do that already.

in fact, the last half of other M seems a lot like the end of MGS2

it's very non-sense....

MGS2 had a great nonesense ending, MGS4 and Other M had dull ones.

I think Metroid 5 is going to blow minds, and in turn will make Other M's story really good dialog aside.

I have a theory I'm working on to support this.

If the theory is not "Sakamoto gets hit by a truck, replaced by competent writer." it is incorrect.

If Sakamoto actually stays true to his word that he won't take the series in the direction in which Other M started it, should it prove to be unsuccessful, then I'll probably forgive him.

Other M's story won't ever be meaningful for the sole reason of most of it being a retelling of Fusion and the fact no one cares about Adam enough to give a crap about him dying.

If you look at the scene, Samus doesn't even seem to be afraid so much as paused with surprise for a stretched out period of time for the purposes of drama. As far as Samus knew, Ridley was dead and vaporized by a planet explosion, the material on her suit was all that was left of him. She didn't know the Galactic Federation was capable of reviving fallen creatures through material on her suit until Melissa explained it to her a good period AFTER the Ridley fight. They may have stretched out the scene for drama but the dialogue makes it a little obvious she was surprised, not scared.

"Ridley!?" "It can't be!" She never expected him to be back and the shock, and possibly denial, caused her to become frozen. After Anthony was "killed", she was so focused on that that she completely overlooked the initial shock. It didn't matter to her how he came back, at that point, she was going to wreck him for "killing" Anthony.

my sincerest apologies for the topic bump, but what Metroid Junkie said did make sense. Samus ended up battling Ridley because of Anthony's "death" Samus probably thought "You killed my parents, you killed the Chozo, and now you killed Anthony! NOW YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURS,ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!"

Then why didn't she just lead with that reaction and spare the character's dignity?

cuz anthony is da man and you don't kill da man.
Maybe because people with PTSD do have dignity, and solely judging them by a single instance where their disorder gets the better of them is not only callous, pretentious, and stupid, but just plain wrong

This is something I do not get. I have not been able to find any information that points to the conclusion that all phazon in the universe disappears when Phaaze is destroyed.
It's a stupid question perhaps, but can someone give me a link to information that reveals that all phazon dissappears just because the source is destroyed?

To my knowledge, this is based on a line from one of the GF people after clearing Phaaze - "The Leviathans have disappeared! The crisis is over!" This combined with the fact that destroying the Leviathans seems to get rid of corruption has often been interpreted to mean that the scene implies that all Leviathans everywhere, and therefore all Phazon, has been destroyed, but it is not necessarily true. The main thing that indicates it might be false is a line somewhere about a sufficiently corrupted planet becoming "like" Phaaze. This can indicate that there may be other Phaazes, which may be unaffected, although that could make the events of the Prime trilogy seem even more insignificant. What is also possible is that the removal of the Leviathans seen in the game was not a total removal of the Phazon that had been spread by Phaaze in the first place. We just don't know.
