I understand that, but what I was saying is that they often didn't fit at all.  In some of the earlier questions, in which a compliment is received, there's no option for simply saying 'thank you'.  The only options were big-headed sounding 'yeah, I know' comments, or self-deprecating ones such as 'oh, I thought it could have been better'.
