I am see this run on youtube already. It was amazing run. I´ll hope see more Hotarubi runs. 100% under 50 might be great.

Yeah really the author's comments hahahaha

This run is inhuman. He's a god, nothing that hasn't been said before. SM is HIS game, and no one elses when it comes to realtime speedrunning.

EDIT:
Counting all the runs (realtime and TAS) I've watched I've never seen Ridley that mad.

Leading to: why unequip bombs?

EDIT2:
100% 0:44 by Satoru Suzuki.

SDA really confused "collecting minimal items" with "collecting all items"...

When you charge your beam and then morph, you release bombs.  By unequipping the bombs, you can morph, and still maintain your charge, so you can release immediately.

Wish I had 100-200$ to blow >.> I don't want to spend that much money on recording my own videos of this. I already know I can not only beat Hotarubi's time, maybe not single segment anyway, I know I could do a 7% run using the Xray climb.

That would be rather impressive. I'm assuming you would collect an extra e-tank as the 7th item for pre/post x-ray? That would also be insanely awesome to watch in realtime. Also, how would you set up the climb anyways? There is, iirc, only a 1 frame period your supposed to release the mockball just before entering the door, and even then, I believe it took some good positioning.

Well, I am working on that. I don't think I plan to use a Mock Ball and I don't care if it takes me 10 tries in a run, recorded, to get in the wall. I am willing to take that time just for the run. Whatever it is, I know I can do it without a macro or getting stuck. Going to be kind of annoying not being able to see myself though. I believe I can see myself when I get to the middle of the room. If it takes me a lot longer than usual to see myself, meaning I don't and I had been trying for a long time, than I will attempt to jump. If I get stuck, well that sucks. Likely will take me a good 6 minutes to get through the entire 13 rooms I believe it was. Immediately after getting into Tourian, I plan to save the game. Maybe even before I start Xray climbing, since I don't really want to find all my items over and over again. I also plan to climb the MB room, using that glitch.

Considering I can't beat her with only 5 missles and 5 supers. Can't even get past them with the glitch since I can't short charge past or freeze. I can hopefully pass the big metroid either using the climb or Saturns method, if at all. The best I can think of is to be able to use a PB and still be able to avoid the metroid, which that in itself is a feat. Than again, why not just get caught since I only have 0-1 energy tanks anyway lol. I will figure it out in due time. Just don't expect to see an official for a very very long time. Like I said, I have no money to be spending on this, and I think maybe the same when I do. Unless SDA accepts other forms of recording apart from DVDs, than I don't suspect anything will happen very soon.

EDIT:
So, when you mock ball in there, if you do it correctly, do you flinch back to the door? Like in the blink of an eye?

That is also another major problem: Skipping MB.

I remember Kej giving a very distinct description, and that there were "freeze" blocks all around that 1 door-transition block, making it *very* difficult to not only get to, but hit it correctly. I don't see this run happening at all.

And you won't be able to skip the Big Metroid via Cpadolf's or Saturn's method, using my x-ray skip is the easiest way possible.

Look, you might not see the run happening, but I definitely do. I also decided not to skip the Metroid, not worth it. I am getting to understand how to get stuck in the doors, mock ball wise. I also will find a path on those freeze blocks, no matter how many times I try.

Also, back on subject. I am glad that Hotarubi got another run on the SDA and hope he submits his 50 min.

I'm sure he said he wasn't submitting it, because he is certain he can achieve 0:49.

Ah ok. Also, if you know, when you bounce back into the door to get stuck, do you have to stand or anything to be stuck or will you be stuck as a ball? Using the Mock Ball tech to Xray climb.

A 7% run, I think not (sorry to be that guy, yet again). There are two reasons for why I doubt that it would be possible. First of all I'm quite sure you can't get stuck in the door using the mockball method unassisted. The reason being that you need to go from holding right, to holding left to holding right again in 0.033 seconds, which I just don't think is possible (you also need to do it at the right position at the right time, and then also unmorph at the correct frame without any margin of error and so on, but that is at least physically possible). The second reason is that you must have the ice beam for tourian manipulating all those PB's from the metroids (let alone surviving down there) just isn't realistic for a unassisted run. I think the odds of getting the 7 PB's needed from the first 3 rooms would be at about one in a million or so. Now you could pick up the icebeam as the 7th item, but I don't think you could survive the trip to it without anothe energy tank.

Now, you could still do a glitched run, though with a higher percentage. You would need to get another missile pack, another super pack, two additional PB packs, the icebeam and possibly another energy tank (this would put you at 12%). The additional ammo would be required for doing a Crystal Flash in the statue room. You must do this since you can't get stuck as far into the door without using the mockball method, or the equally precision-heavy Speedbooster method, and there is a bump halfway up the room that you will get stuck on, and you need to Crystal Flash past this. Doing Mother Brains room is the reason you might need another Energy tank. Even with full energy you would die after 3 hits from the rinkas, and it might not be possible to climb fast enough unassisted to not take more hits than that (and sniping them isn't always possible since you are locked into position), though I don't know about this.

The statue room is likely the hardest part in the run (and the main reason that I haven't tried to do a run of this nature myself), simply because of the huge risk factor of getting stuck from not being able to see if you got forced into standing position or not (if you fail and press down you get stuck forever). It isn't the hardest thing to do, but you have to do, I believe, over 600 times, 300 or more of which you won't be able to see yourself. It would be a pretty impressive feat to do this at all IMO. So I look forward to seeing if you can make this run eventually :)

Heh, thanks for the advice and confidence Cpadolf. You know me though, it is hard for me to give up unless I have absolutely no resources left. I can get myself to spring back once I get inside the room, so do I need to be hitting forwards again before entering? Also, on that note, you cannot get stuck by pushing down... Want to know why? Simple. Turn off your Morph Ball. I never get stuck when I turn that off. Also, once I get to the room, I won't be climbing anymore and more than likely can walk. If not, I can at least realize I am there since I won't see myself again. As far as the metroids go... Once I figure out how to get stuck in a door, we will see from there.

Rofl!!!! Pure genius!!! OMG this makes me want to go climb shit on my Wii!

Concerning the metroids, me and Cpadolf did quite a bit of testing for skipping them, I'll try to dig up some SMVs we did for you. IIRC, we managed to skip the first 2 rooms.. lol. The final room be4 the 2 big blue hoppers is considered un-skippable, as its a vertical room of destruction. The 3rd room may be skippable, if you have an extra e-tank because the Rinka will hit you a few times. We quit that room because it was useless for Cp's glitched any% with no tanks.

EDIT: There are the 2 SMVs I still have from our testing, maybe Cpadolf has more.

Ok well, I will check those out. Btw, not sure why nobody thought of the morph ball before lol When I thought of it, it was hand slaps head.

Ok, know what? We need to stop hijacking this thread lol

I love your kind of people, you're all what speedrunning is about and keep it alive. We're having an almost same kind of situation on ZM side (though honestly nothing as impossible-sounding..) and even though I'm told by one of the best it's probably impossible, it shouldn't stop me from trying, and I hope you also try and do your thing.

I'll be the first one to comment if you do this/it makes its way to SDA. Go go go!

Haha thanks a lot Tonski. As far as getting this to work, it isn't very easy. Also, if Cpadolf ect looks at this again, you remember that way of getting stuck by getting really close to the door then do a spinning jump, pushing away at the bottom, and you are stuck? That isn't working for me anymore. May I be doing something wrong?

Yes, this is the problem. After hitting backward you littlerally need to hit forward again the next frame (0.0167 seconds), without the door transition in between. Very good thinking about de-equipping the morphball though :)

As for skipping the metroid rooms. First can be skipped, but I think the movement of screen is likely to complex to be able to do unassisted (you have to run for a long while, do some tricky jumps, and I think even walk of an edge and then need to turn around just frames later, and of couse you have no idea of knownig when you have reached that edge). Second room can't be skipped, third room can most likely not be skipped (I tested this for a while), fourth room can't be skipped.

But I say again, go for the extra CF ammo, as well as icebeam and you can definitely complete this run.

Does saving in Tourian after climbing there somehow affect whether you can glitch yourself through MB in the end or not? I mean, if you manage to somehow get this run all the way to Tourian, saving on the right there would be more than advisable...

It doesn't affect the MB glitching, as long as you don't use the saveslot from green brinstar to save your game (as you need that for later).

Thanks Cpadolf, I really appreciate the help. I don't plan to skip any of the metroid rooms, even if I do later on decide to do a 6-7%. I will definitely attempt a 12% though, after learning the way of getting stuck in a door. Also, if you didn't notice or if it wasn't posted here, how was it again that I got stuck by spin jumping really close to the door and pushing away near the bottom? It doesn't seem to work on the U or JU versions anymore, it worked previously.

In all seriousness though, we either need to take this somewhere else or PMs because we are totally hijacking this thread based on a run I want to do instead of paying attention to Hotarubi's lol
