in posted this at gamefaqs, but noone seems to have noticed it.  when fighting chozo ghosts I noticed taht even when they are invisible, you can see where and when they land on the ground by dust kicked up. by looking for this, you can aim ahead of time and anticipate where the ghosts are going to be. I believe I have seen this used in Radix's speed run and possibly in Trebor's 23% vid, but I haven't seen this posted anywere.

So I dunno if this is old or not, but it is definately helpful against the chozo ghosts early in the game, before the x-ray visor.

yeah, i've known for some time that you can shoot in the direction of the dust (which is usually where they just sped off to) to make them appear quicker. if all else fails, just run toward that area and there they are. poor radix didn't know and i didn't know he didn't know...

;P

Thank you >_> I always run toward them anyway. I always miss if I'm too far off because a charged powerbeam shot goes so slow >_>

they need to inject some whoopass into the guns for prime 2, imo.

I'd be happy if all they did was fix the flamethrower. I thought the rest were all alright.

I wish they could've made better use of the plasma gun. I mean, what's more fun than walking into a room FULL of normal space pirates when you aren't expecting and getting to torch them ALL? It would've been fun if they'd had some rooms like taht, and then improved the gun's range to balance it out.

Not an aweful lot, although blasting lots of hapless pirates with super missles comes pretty close.

so does using the wavebuster and watching them have spasms on the ground, but its still not as cool as the plasma :/

Plasma for me was a cool eye-candy at first, but i always use it so seeing the charred, screaming bodies of my enemies in front of me kinda became just another part of the game... nothin new...

The super missile i barely use but when i do, Laughing oh man... I love watchin those pirates go flyin to the other sice of the room. Haha! Stupid pirates... Twisted Evil

Charred and screaming is always good.  It's even better in a video game, har har.
My favorite is also the wave beam convulsion style...except on baby Sheegoths.  I don't care what anyone says, they're just too cute to die.

The only things that i have ever found to cute to die are Ectecoons, Dachoras, and the Metroid Hatchling. Everything else is fair game to me. DIE!

Is it a coincidence that these happen to be the only things you can't shoot? Or simply Nintendo being considerate enough to let us keep blindly blasting away with our plasma beam of painful burny death without worry of accidentally harming anything cute?

INCLUDING ADAM!!!! Deumb PC telling ME what to do! TAKE THAT *fires plasma beam at Adams CPU*

Something that continually annoys me is this swapping beams to open doors. Since the plasma beam is THE ultimate gun and you need the other weapons to get it would it not make sense to allow the plasma beam to open EVERY door. Blue, White, Purple AND Red?

I know it wouldn't be practical to program, but I think it would be cool if you could "open" any door with super missiles, SA-X style.

Wouldn't be that hard I'm a trainee programmer and I can think how it would work.
Using the beams from MP and the door types (blue, white, purple, red)

Assign each type of door a number (1 weakest - 4 greatest)
Blue = 1
Purple = 2
White = 3
Red = 4

Assign each beam a number(1 weakest - 4 greatest)
Power = 1
Wave = 2
Ice = 3
Plasma = 4

If beam number is greater than or equal to door number
          Open the door
Otherwise
          Do nothing

There's the code. Yeah I know it'd be more complex than that with having to deal with graphics and animations etc but you get the jist of it.

By the Way I would LOVE to be able to vaporise doors and floors and entire sections like the SAX could! BOOM!!! There goes section 5.... such a pity... LOL!

Why am I so amazing?
They're talking about it being too hard to program opening doors SA-X style. As in, blowing the shit out of them.

Ah... I c. Thot u were talking bout the beams. Duh Skynes.... read the post....

It would be a nightmare to program. Since each room is loaded separately the only way to do that is to load the entire area (which'll take a while) then you could blow doors off.

Personally I like the way it is with v little loading but the elecator scene and the access to impact crater

Only of the week? I must not be trying hard enough...

Unless the engine Prime was made in was rebuilt from the bottom up, managing to implement destroyable doors would be a small miracle. I wasn't serious about it, it was just a bit of wishful thinking.

Ironically enough, though, the missile doors in NES Metroid are handled in exactly this way. You blast the bubble to smithereens, and once it's gone it stays gone. If I remember correctly doors are handled exactly the same way in ROS.

Back to the topic at hand, I think a door hierarchy would be an excellent idea. It would please everyone, as all doors would be able to keep their minimum requirements to open them, but players wouldn't have to keep switching beams all the time just to get through a door. A natural extension to this would be a destroyable items hierarchy. If super missiles can destroy cordite, but can't scratch bendezium; and power bombs reduce bendezium to rubble, does it not follow that power bombs should be able to destroy cordite, too?

I'd say yes and no to that... It depends whether power bombs goes under the 'concussion' weapons list.

If it does then absolutely! Power bombs should mince Cordite AND Sandstone. Super Missiles should take down Sandstone too... After all it's just sand :P
