I hope this is the right forum to introduce myself.

I've played Super Metroid on my old SNES when I was a kid of 14 years or so.

I was looking for something what couldnt be finished as fast as much jump'n runs at that time, and so I read of this game called "Super Metroid" in the "Club Nintendo" magazine. I bought it and it was fun, but it didnt blow me right away, but I played it from time to time.

When I finally bought an computer I rediscovered the game with emulation and played it again and again. The cool thing of the metroid games is imho that they get better the more often you beat them.

Later I bought a cube when I heard of the Metroid Bundle. And I cant wait for Prime 2, after Prime being such a well developed game.

I was reading various metroid website/forums and finally registered here.

I must admit, I'm not the best and fastest player, and the only special metroid move I'm able to execute is the infinite bomb jump in Super (to get these power bombs without space jump) ;) but I'll hope you will accept me too ;)

So ... hello  to everyone! :)

Entonces, si solías leer la Club Nintendo, asumo que debes hablar español, ¿no? :P ¡Al fin, otro hispano fanático de la serie! Pensé que yo era el único por aquí. :P

Quote from DominicanZero, this time in english,:
Then, if you used to read Club Nintendo, I assume you also speak spanish, no? :P Until finally, another latin fan of the series! I thought I was the only one around here. :P

Sorry, I must disappoint you, I'm not Spanish.
But you are right, I'm not a native English speaker.

At least we are on the same continent ;)

You'll do just fine in Zero Mission.

welcome to the forums, don't worry, not all of us speedrun.  (At least i don't, so you aren't alone)

I mainly hang out in the chatroom more than here, i just started posting about a week ago.

Just out of curiosity, how did you find the site?

Thank you.  :D

I found the site via various other sites. Though I don't really speedrun, I was very impressed by these Super Metroid Emu videos, and so I searched a bit more online.

I didnt think that sequence breaking, as it is called, was possible in Prime but I had to learn it better ;) . I watched a couple of the vids and was impressed again :)

BTW something to the version differences: Is there a speaker in the us version, who says "Impact crater" and "Tallon Overworld" when you enter/leave the impact crater, too?

Anyway I thought it was a bit strange that he only announced the level-change in this area.

No, although Nate's already noticed that. That's probably the freakiest change in the entire game, that announcer.
