(the very first downloadable full data video speed run in the history of the web)

now that I did not know - you ought to flash that about a bit more. :P

probably should have qualified that with "that i know of", but whatever ... if there were others in the summer of 2003, they were pretty well hidden. speed running in general i don't think really took off until that year.

Weren't people sequence breaking and speed running Super Metroid way before that though? I know i've heard somewhere that even thought the game is soo old, people still keep finding new secrets and glitches in the game.

Ready and willing.
True, but see "full data video". It would have probably taken like, a week to download one back then, not only from the size but the lack of good video compression (maybe... I dunno, but given that it wouldn't have helped that much, nobody was probably too interested...)

Yeh, it is in the description for the Super Metroid forum here.  Just go to the index page to see it.

Why am I so amazing?
It's pretty crazy when you think about what impact m2k2 has had, not just on Metroid, but on the gaming world in general. Speed runs used to be totally obscure, undocumented, and uncommon. Now just look at SDA.

i would hardly call this site the cause of all that. the people who contributed the work you see on this site were the cause ... so this site is just another manifestation of something much larger.

I only sequence broke Prime about once, and I haven't even been following what's going on with Echoes, and yet I'm still one of the bigwigs here for some reason.

That's because we like it when you shout at people.  :D

Anyway, seeing as this site has one of the best social comunities on the whole intarweb, you don't have to be a brilliant Metroid player or sequence breaker to contribute and have a great time.

all right!  i was afraid for a second that there was no reason for me to spend so much time here.  aside, of course, from that it irks my mom much less than playing metroid and zelda all day...

No, this is for the site, m2k2. The forum's birthday is on Sept 13th, so we still have a month or so to go.
