Why am I so amazing?
Okay, I'm not a PC gamer by any stretch of the immagination. I've bought exactly one PC game in the last 5 years, and that was X-Wing Alliance, and even that was only because it was really, really cheap.

But damn if Half Life 2 doesn't make me drool. The physics are freaking incredible. And since I doubt GameCube is gonna get a port any time soon... this might be a PC game to actually... buy.

I can't believe I said that.

Have you seen the recent graphics demo that was released? I mean i actually felt warmth from the sun glaring off the rusted roof top panels.

It's essentially why i bought my new alienware computer.

Ehh... I'm trying to avoid all signs of it, since I'll never be able to play it (being a Mac user and all).  I'm still angry I got gyped on the first...

actually, wasn't there already a company contracted to do the mac port? instead of some half assed crap that never sees release from valve, like last time?

correct me if i'm wrong...so like, someone who is more interested in half life than i, go confirm or deny it.

It looks cool, but I'm not jumping for joy really. The fact that just trying to run it would make my hard drive melt holds me back a bit.

If only I could afford that a new Alienware. Oh the dismay...

It won't melt your hard drive.  It is supposed to be fully scalable which means you won't get to see the high-end effects but you'll still be able to play the game. HL1 had some pretty bad graphics but it was still excellent.  If the graphics are even a tiny bit better than HL1 once scaled down to run on my computer, I'll be happy.  If the gameplay is rock solid and the story is tight, I could care less about how good it looks since it's a given that it'll be better than HL1.

Heh, talk about underestimating...HL2's going to be lightyears ahead of HL1 in the graphics dept.

My computer is the suck. <_<

HL1 was good, but i think overrated. HL2... Maybe, if i get a new computer that'll run the sucker. (unlikely)

the reason HL is "overrated" is because of all the mods. personaly i think that the mods are incredable. especaily TFC and MMXhl

The code leak was hardly the reason for this long of a delay, that's just their excuse.  The break in occured 2 or 3 weeks before the supposed sep 30 release, yet now the game isn't coming out until July?  There's NO WAY changing the network protocol to prevent cheating with the stolen code takes that long.  The game wasn't close to being done and they knew it, but waited until a week before the date to announce a delay.  I don't think too highly of them for that.

As far as using the source leak if its real, or an excuse for the delay, I really don't care.

My view is this:
Delays are good, the more a game is delayed, that means the more time to remove the bugs, add content, and generally make the game better.

So, the game was delayed because it needed to be delayed, and the end product will be better for it.

Sure, this isn't always true. (StarFox Adventures for example) but I doubt theyre going to allow Half Life 2 to be bad when it finally releases, considering how much they NEED the game to do well.

...and its pretty.
