I found another one, and this may be the worst Pirate glitch of all. I mean, it's actually closer to a glitch than a bug. VBM and YouTube below.

Just so you know, if you want to duplicate this, the trick is to get the pirate to be standing on the platform when the alarm turns off.

Not about to got through all the posts (perhaps I already have? prolly not), but I noticed in that SB shaft in Norfair that if you trigger the red flying bug thingie at the bottom and start ascending the shaft, the bug with keep floating up with you, straight through the wall, and still be able to fly off the the left. Might've seen another oddity, but I don't remember anything right now. Well, there was where two of the bomb blocks at the top of the Space Pirate Mothership big-shaft that didn't crumble, I think due to standing on them or somesuch; there might've been more instances of some number of them staying. *shrugs*

Actually, if you look more closely, Wave will not have any contrails and is a slightly more purplish shade than Ice. And no, it does not have the ice effect.

i'm not sure if this is new but on zero mission you can escape norfair without ice beam or screw attack.its where you begin in norfair from brinstar(elevator). heres how to escape you need the power grip and good timing with wall jump.it's extremely tough(lack of space) but i did it about 3 times so far.i'm not sure cause the creature at the top seems to be moving a bit faster than the other but its possible.

It's technically possible to get up there by IBJing, but I don't think I ever succeeded.

Also, speedruns don't use ice beam to get out of there.

Wall-jumping also works, that's the method that was instructed to use at the No Ice Beam FAQ (at least until you go to Tourian) at GameFAQs.
