Quote from Ntsc:
Also I'd love to see a game where there was no right or wrong choice or at least you don't get pigeonholed into being either "Evil" or "Holy" and get completely shafted if you aren't 100% one way or the other.

Fallout New Vegas does that. The Good faction is arguably just as bad as the Evil one and it can even be argued the the bad guys are probably better overall given how shitty everything is or might be under the good guys. Being an asshole really doesn't restrict you much if at all and telling everyone to fuck right off is completely viable.

You can also be nice to everyone and that works too, except it ticks off the evil dudes but whatever they don't really like anybody anyway.

It'd be nice if in video games it wasn't just good or evil choices, but like, red or blue or green or whatever. Like, you know, in the real world.

ohbutwait that's too haaaard for game devs.

Spent like the entire game extorting people on my first playthrough and finished with a sparkling karma rating. Outright stealing from anybody and killing bystanders will give you bad karma but if it effects the game at all it's entirely behind the scenes and completely unimportant, it's pretty much just there so you know how big of a dick you're being.

Everybody's at least half motherfucker in that game including the player character and it's p sweet.

I mean to be fair The Legion seems just outright evil at first but the game does go into how they work back in territory they actually control if you bother to look and suddenly become really interesting. Likewise the NCR seems like a perfectly fine faction but they are actually pretty quickly revealed as just a bit more subtle about how they are assholes than the Legion. The two independent options aren't perfect either, no matter what somebody's getting fucked over the goal is almost more making sure it isn't you than anything.

If only it wasn't stuck on that piece of shit game engine.

I didn't play it long enough to get engrossed into it.

From what I played it was pretty much Fallout 3: Now in a Desert (oh and we made the dialogue a little more interesting this time!)

it's by no means a bad game at all, but it's pretty similar.

Yeah my understanding is it's Fallout 3 with actually good writing. Combat's the same though apparently VATS is less godmode, but they actually have characters and a setting that one might be inclined to give a shit about. Guess it depends mostly on whether or not you want to talk to people and learn about them/the region. Also Caesar's Legion is a pretty cool faction. Fuck commies and imperialist capitalist dogs I'm gonna go hang with the fucking Romans.

the characters/story was actually what i cared for least about fallout 3 so i guess i'll try it sometime. fallout 3 just had no one interesting to talk to outside of the atomic bomb town, whatever it was called. the problem with setting a huge rpg in a nuclear wasteland is that, well, there aren't many cities and pretty much everyone is dead. doesn't exactly make for a good rpg.

Megaton!

and yeah if you can get into the people/setting of New Vegas then it's much better than Fallout 3. All I wanted to do was explore around trying to survive in a wasteland, which was exactly what I already did in Fallout 3. I loved that game's atmosphere.

New Vegas has a robot museum curator wearing a cowboy hat and you can make him town sheriff, this is in the first town after the tutorial. Also the museum is dedicated to a criminal duo not entirely unlike Bonnie and Clyde, only less famous because they were known more for cashing bad checks at banks than robbing them. This robot is thrilled to tell you the story.

I don't know if that tells you anything about New Vegas compared to Fallout 3 but there you are.

in terms of writing and dark humor, new vegas is way more like the first 2 fallouts...

in fact, there is so little humor in fallout 3 that you can't even consider it a part of the series...

if you can, play fallout 2, it's the only game i played where you can blow up the sewer system of a town and litter it with shit, that stay in the town for the rest of the game, become the acolyte of a god molerat, get DSTs by being part of porno movies, become part of the mafia by killing the former leader and forcing his former wife to marry you and bribe the guards of the last boss to kill him for you...

all of this in one single play...

It's because it was made by a lot of the same people.

I actually only bothered to try it because my cousin worked on it. Glad I did though.

so the demon hunter in Diablo III is pretty stupid as hell. At first reading over her abilities make it seem like she'll be this kickass ninja chick, but in reality her attacks are incredibly weak and boring.

Mage is still the most fun so far.

depends on the dev, some devs are stubborns as mules and even whem ppl say something is terribly wrong with the balancing, they won't change it cuz "it's their personal imagine of how it would work..." or something like that...

in other news:

my new mouse, 8 programable buttons, 4 profiles, support for 8 different macros and 4 customizable DPi speeds per profile, it's awesome /)*3*(\

Yeah it seems that I'm Not the only one. It looks like she gets more fun later, or in groups, but the first 10 levels are too boring to bother.

it's like a gamer curse, no keyboard can sustain it...

also, the monk is available in the beta? cuz every game i play monks are OP hybrids and kinda ruin every other class...
i say it's a D&D legacy + ninja leet skills that make monks this annoying mofos they are...

they are like ninja wizards...

Yeah I'm planning on playing the monk next. I think if they didn't make the Demon Hunter rely on "hate" and "discipline" as much she would be a lot more fun. Every time you use a ninja skill like jumping/dodging or throwing down stun traps it consumes a ton of Discipline. I'd always run out before I kill a boss or moderate group of enemies.
