That's some creepy shit right there. I'm definitely going to play OoT on my N64 the next time I should decide to replay it. On the other hand... it's probably not even on the PAL cartridges. : /
There was a series of greys that ran at the same time as the golds, since gold carts were a pre-order only thing. The music was trimmed with the next release, dunno if it coincided with discontinuing golds though.
Yeah, I've never come across that before in all my years of playing OOT, but then again while the first time I played it when I was younger may have been on the N64 (I got as far as... what, the Deku Tree or something? Not very far at all, whatever it was, and certainly not far enough to hear this.) I've only owned the cube versions so I've never heard this version until now.
In a way that kind of music could've been cool for the Fire Temple. I'm talking about a Goron chant or something, not specifically THAT chant.
I remember it from my old OoT cart, and I think that one of my disc versions might have it on there as well. I remember reading about the controversy on wikipedia and suddenly realizing that there was a reason for the music change. Damn muslims get pissed off no matter what you do.
I prefer the Mirror Shield with the Gerudo symbol. The Islam symbol had zero relevance in the game, at least the Gerudo symbol was related to, y'know, the Gerudos.
The islamic symbol was prettier, imo. I never really realized it was an islamic symbol anyways. I feel like laughing at the muslims and saying: 'See! Even the japanese think you people are crazy!' but I might get beheaded. Oops.

It's not meant as an Islamic symbol. It's the goddamned moon with a star next to it.
Just another instance of people being whiny babies about everything, anyone who is seriously offended by something resembling a religious symbol really needs to rethink their life. Unless it's, like, on fire and surrounded by obscene gestures with a "Fuck youuuuu!" chant playing behind it, then they might have an argument.
I only called it the Islamic symbol because that's what it looks like. I highly doubt Ninty consciously referenced one of the most sensitive and volatile-tempered communities on the planet.
I think it was meant to be Islamic-ish, since artistically the whole game was a little Arabic-based (just as WW was Celtic-based and TP was American Old West-based) but it was not specifically meant to represent Islam or it's followers in any way. Kinda like how the crosses in Castlevania are part of the asthetic and not actively calling out Christianity.
Heheh, just goes to show how controversial religion can be in video games. Look how many posts it's lead to! But honestly, the only game I ever felt that would even remotely fit the "excessive religious themes" category would be Terranigma.

Religious themes are fine as long as they're done well. Problem is most games that try it are JRPGs and those are all required by law to have the player's party kill God at the end, it's a bit old really. Terranigma actually pulled it off rather well as I recall, but it's been a while since I played it.
I want a God of War clone where you play as Jesus kicking the shit out of everything ever. If only to watch the amazing reaction.

Have you played bible fight? It's a fun flash game on adultswim.com. You can play as jesus, mary, the devil, moses, and even god if you use a cheat code. It's absolutely hilarious!
So, my copy of Darksiders came with a card that contained on it a code. Looks like a normal XBL redemption code, but with nowhere to actually redeem it. All they said on the card and on the website was "hold onto it." Now, a month later, they've finally revealed what the code is for. Turns out it's... a digital artbook and a free copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla.
This is the most unexpectedly bizarre thing I have ever seen any videogame company ever do. I was expecting more shitty avatar accessories, not a free videogame that has nothing to do with the game that I actually purchased.
