One of these days I'll catch up. one. of. these. days.
I just haven't been in "the mood" for pony lately. And I hate forcing myself to watch it just because I feel like I'm obligated to, given my involvement in other places of the fandom.
so instead my my comments about the new episode, here's an awesome picture:
Also, had anyone used their brains, it would have ended up profitable for everyone involved. The proposed split was 25/75. If the Apple family had taken this, they would have ended up with 75% of the profits they'd use to make, as (apparently) the machine made cider 3x as fast. However, if they had taken this, and at the same time the machine was working kept making cider by hand, it would at worst have meant 4x the production for 100% of their old profits, but they could probably have gotten 100% of the profits from the cider the machine didn't make. Which would have meant 175% the profits and 4x the production speed for the Apples compared to before, a nice profit for the brothers, and enough of a cider supply to meet the demand from the mile-long line of ponies.
Not exactly a display of shining intelligence from anyone. Special mention to the brothers for not using the barrels of good cider when they started selling, though.
lmao Applejack at the end: "Heck I didn't learn anything! I was right all along!" Perhaps Rainbow Dash should have written the letter to Trollestia this week, rofl.
some guys are trying to take derpy away from the show because they find it offensive. and now there is a petition to keep her in the show and keep her named derpy.
yeah, I guess now Hasbro thinks it means "literally retarded". She did seem a bit overboard with being a "klutz", and it certainly doesn't help that her voice actor thought she was male, so the voice combined with her being a "klutz" made it seem like a retard.
but oh well.
Also petitions are stupid, especially online ones. When was the last time you heard a company say "We were going to do <whatever>, but then we saw an Online Petition and changed our mind!". They never work. If people want to do something about it, they'll actually have to put forth time and effort. signing a petition takes 4 seconds, companies realize this.
not saying it's bad to sign one, just that they're kinda pointless.
On the one hand, I really don't like the character much and would not mind at all if she just went away. On the other hand, whoa, that is the worst reason possible for doing it.
(Okay, but really, if it were possibly offensive, it might be a different story. But it's not even possibly offensive unless you're looking to be offended.)
Yes, a character named Derpy bumbling around like a literal retard for laughs surely could not possibly offend anyone at all. I mean I'm not bothered so why should anyone be, right?
I'm not saying they're totally right and Derpy needs to go but you seriously can't tell me you don't see any way that could maybe rub somebody the wrong way. Several somebodies. It doesn't take any great stretch of logic. If there are people with a legitimate claim to being offended the option should be at least on the table. Ideally they just use it to improve the character if she's going to be doing anything at all in other episodes beyond being a fan easter egg.
When my friend came over he was like "oh there was a new episode today wasn't there? I haven't seen it yet" and I was like "yeah me neither". I hadn't told him that I kinda stopped watching it, and I was afraid he'd judge me if I told him I stopped so I watched it.
yay for being back in the pony mood! going to watch the other... three I missed later. Predictable, but there's a certain kind of humor it has that I can't quite pin point. Like just the part at the end where it zooms out and you can see the ledge, like it's silly little humor, but it's somehow still witty. Like there's just little bits that make you snicker.
iTunes finally spat out Read it and Weep so I watched it.
I liked it!
Also, iTunes dun goofed and made Hearts and Hooves Day available early for a short while. Enough for people to snag it and it's now in the usual places. Saving that to watch while I eat dinner tomorrow, though. It's just as well that when they make me wait until Thursday for an episode that I get the next one early. Hmph.
