60 for a charged beam
90 for a charged ice beam
18,000/60 = 300 seconds
18,000/90 = 200 seconds
MB will take exactly 5 minutes to kill using just the charge beam, losing 1 minute and 40 seconds to the ice beam route.
Ridley will be much faster though. 15 super missiles will deal 9,000 damage to ridley. The rest will take about 2 and a half minutes with regular charge beam shots. Total, the ridley fight will be about 2 minutes and 45 seconds long. With ice route he only has 10 super missiles (6,000) damage. The remaining 12,000 hp would take 133 seconds to drain. So roughly 2 minutes and 20 seconds total. A net loss of 25 seconds using the speed booster route.
Both the Ridley and MB losses combined equal out to ~2 minutes. The slower metroid rooms maybe lose about another minute. Now the question is whether or not the speed booster can save 3 minutes. The gains in lower norfair coupled with a much much faster maridia make me think that the speed booster is faster.
