In Red Scarlet's latest run, in part 5, she was able to jump through a platform in Maridia just below the door to the Spring Ball hallway (where you see the digging machine), thereby acquiring the Spring Ball without using the Grappling Beam. I have been trying to replicate this glitch (refer to her video for details), but to no avail. She made a brief mention of her being told how to do this in her liner notes, but never revealed how.

Anybody care to explain how this is done? I asked this question in the top thread, but I doubt she saw it.

It's a different usage of the "Mochtroid Glitch" that more people know about.  The Mochtroid Glitch allows you to get to Draygon without the Speed Booster (the room right before Botwoon is it), which is where it comes from.

It has something to do with freezing a badguy at the right height so Samus fits just right and is able to jump up from the frozen enemy through a 1 block wall.

I tried it in 1 other place, but it didn't help out.

For the Spring Ball, the blob thing has to be at just the right height, or you won't jump through the ceiling blocks.  If you watch the vid in slow motion, try shooting when I did (right before you actually land on the first blob) to get it.  Don't forget to duck then jump when you land on the frozen blob.

Trebor got it in a couple minutes after seeing where/when to shoot.

And by your mentioning of the mochtroid glitch, this leads me to believe that there's more than what this site and Gamefaqs has to offer in terms of secret tricks.
