The guy here found a lot of info about Retro's initial ideas for MP2, which are waaaaaaaaay different than the final product. This version had a SHODAN type of evil A.I., a huge multiplayer mode, and a bigger focus on scripted events and horror elements than the final game. It also explains why the MP2 pirates have exposed hearts, which is kinda cool.

Do you think this would have been better than what we got? I think that the idea is really ambitious, but may have been hard to pull off. If Retro got it done, it could have really been well done; the AI stuff in particular seemed really cool. With this as MP2, the best of the final versions of MP2 and MP3 into one final game could have been made for a more well rounded trilogy imo.

This sounds like a cool idea for a story and gameplay that would have added a new dynamic for the series.

Sounds like it'd be an interesting sequel to Prime.
I don't think the combat would be all that fun with predictable robots being the main enemies.

If fleshed out a bit more, and not made so "easy" (I mean like successfully killing the cryo species, and shutting down the robots) it could be pretty good.

A fair amount of this seems to have made it's way into Hunters as well... With all the playable hunters and all.
That one that split into two (taken from Humetroid), the one that goes invisible (again Humetroid)...

That's what I thought aswell.

I really liked the idea of areas that disable using your abilities until "shut down". That would give a legitimate reason why not to have some items in use even when you have them, unlike in MOM *coughvariacough*

If this 'Metroid Prime 1.5' game is made by Retro Studios for the WiiU with HD graphics with a gritty and creepy feel with good multiplayer those imbeciles who say 'everything nintendo makes is crap (or worse) because its all 'immature' and, err, the graphics are like pacman' (you know who you are) will be kicking themselves.

Retro is part of nintendo if that's what you wanted to know. they're not a 3rd party that might bail out at any time (but the staff can still bail out like with Rare)
