hero of the day over at TASvideos has recently come up with one of the most awesome things to be done in Super Metroid for some time, that is, a one round Draygon battle without any Plasma/X-ray abuse. The feat in itself is TAS only, and not appliable in any runs, but it remains awesome non the less.

Not that I did it the same way, though his way is pretty cool, I did 1 round him myself. It's a good way to do it if you don't want to try and waste all your PBs and SMs in a TAS. Especially since it takes only a few seconds more time. I suppose you can call this a two round. If he was able to come down on the first round spitting, it would easily be a 1 round.

That's some pretty nifty Grapple Beam abuse.

While the grapplebeam is touching Draygon he won't move forward.

Just to expand a little, in case you're unclear, the Grapple Beam is fired into Draygon to stall his movement, missiles are quickly fired into him, and then the Grapple Beam is fired again.  Repeating the process almost stops his movement entirely, allowing you to fire enough missiles to kill him on his first swoop.

I think it MIGHT be possible if we have 0 sms and power bombs like in the video. Or is the grapple really sensitive?

No, to make him stop completely you need total frame perfection in button pressing (I think, maybe you have one frame of leeway when switching from missiles to grapple), so it would actually be far harder to do than for example a phantoon one round unassisted.

Ah, oh well. Interesting, though.
