Curious question to ponder I suppose. In the MP games the doors are metal and open in like a circular motion. In SM they pull in, from what I assume is 4 different parts. What do you supposed the doors are made of in SM?

Are they metal just like MP, or a special kind of bubblish material? :D Interesting thing to think about eh? ( It may just be me...but oh well. )

I think the animation in 2D is actually supposed to be similar to the iris effect in Prime.  I get the impression they from Samus's view, the doors would all pull back in a kinda petal formation.

Sorry I was going to slow down either way. This has just been my fav game since I was 5 and this is the first time since then, that I've been able to interact with fellow metroid fans period.

I know it seems pathetic but this game is kinda important to me. Not super important but it was my first fav game and to this day still is so it's got something special.

I will slow down on the threads. SORRY!

Da hell wid you :)
I remember when i first got the internet mid last year and discovered forums and such and it's great to see the love and appreciation for the same games as you that you've held inside for years. Because until then you can't really share the appreciation with anybody so it stays inside you. At best you can talk to your mates about it or your brothers and sisters. But they might not be interested. But here is where the love is.

Btw I'm not a hippie lol.

No you pretty much scream hippie bro. :D Jk. Wow thanks you put me feelings into words better than I could. It is just that. The only thing my friends know is what I show them. None of them have ever picked this game up and played it.

I am surrounded by metroid finatics... I've seen them get down and dirty by using 0.oooo43243243242 seconds and they know their stuff it's amazing! I've just had so much built up things to say, and ask. So I made threads. Maybe I should make a thread for me. Post only in there. :P Lol

Servin' you realness!!
I just think you'll find the overwhelming majority of metroid discussion on this forum to be about gameplay and less about speculation of the metroid universe/fiction.  If you genuinely want to converse about such things, you'll get alot more response on the other forum.

Nope I am here for the game play mainly. One of a kind game. You can't ever try and recreate it without messing something up.

She (HAH! I got it right this time!) meant that this forum (the Super metroid one) is mainly for gameplay discussions.

Talking about what the doors are made of is closer to the "Other" forum.

:( Sorry I figured it was an all around forum I dunno how though. I came from the Gamefaqs forum for SM where the community was...2 people. I will be more careful about where I post things at. I was just excited like a little kid. :D

What exactly is MDb and is the other forum apart of m2k2?

Metroid Database.

Never been there myself, so I can't say much more about it.

I can't see anything wrong with the odd thread about this that or the other. As long as the vast majority of them talk about the gameplay, which is what I guess m2k2 stands for. Even If it's some un written rule that we only talk about gameplay. It just shows a different side of the community appreciation for the game.

In fact I was thinking about starting a thread about the top room of wrecked ship. Are those metroids in the background ?. they damn well look like them. It's like they are being kept there. Or have been kept there until the wrecked ship became abandoned. We know the chozo created the metroids. Did they inhabit the derelict ship hundreds of years ago and use it to produce metroids. If someone can awnser this directly as to what they are then there's no need for another thread or for people to get confused by this threads title.

Those're definitely Metroids in the background.  It's possible that the ship's expedition was also studying them.  Ridley also has screens with them on outside his room.  I posted some shots from the Wrecked Ship section of the official player's guide a long time ago, which offered some information about the ship.  You can see them here.

ahh man you know when we first bought this game in 1994 we got the big box version with the guide you showed in the pictures. that brought back a lot of memories and i absolutely loved reading that book. sadly it got chucked out between 7-10 years ago when we cleaned the house up. i couldn't believe that the fact i couldn't find the guide meant that the book had undoubtedly been thrown out. I was devestated.

I remember the words in it too and that planet shrunken map lol. most importantly i remember the ugly mug of mother brain on the back page. o wow that actually frightened me as a kid. when you hadn't even reached tourian and knowing that you had to face that ugly monster and the cheeky pics displaying the dark scary corridors of tourian near the back page left me pretty wild with exitement but it also sent a chill down the spine. Not many 2d games can have that affect on ya I can definately say.

I don't think there is something 'wrong' with these types of threads, I was just saying that the author of such threads is more likely to get more responses/discussion on MDb.  Everyone wants their thread to be a success, the chances of that happening increase alot over there.

I couldn't agree more. Maybe someone can make a General Discussion sticky to help with these somewhat unnecessary threads.

OK, well there is THAT kind of success, but I really don't want to get into that...

Well, there're loads of different ways that somebody could achieve success.  It just seemed odd that Opium made a comment about everyone hoping their topic becomes successful (which I read as popular), and you commented about making money.
