I just got banned from #metroid for absolutely nothing. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad  I did not violate any of the M2K2 forum rules, and if there are M2K2 IRC rules, none of them were broken either.  Apparently I was banned for using Zhs2's nicknames ONE SINGLE TIME.  I was going to continue chatting nicely when Kenny felt the need to PERMANENTLY BAN ME FOR NO REASON.  I think that #metroid should have either posted rules, or a warning system similar to the forum.  For example, maybe you should kick someone and state a warning to them about their behavior, and only ban them if they continue to be trouble.  I was not on for even 10 seconds, but was still given an immediate ban.

Impersonating someone is serious business, I'm sure after this you won't do it again.

yeah... soaponarope...

also, why was it necessary to respond to a two month old post?

Yo.
GwahahahahahahahahahhahaHAAAAAA *hack* *cough*

... Err, that is to say, he said something out loud that got him banned. It wasn't the act of using someone's actual nick. He'd called tommy something tommy didn't ever like being called in the first place, so ban.

And this was two months ago. Nowadays, they let him in just to pick on him relentlessly (a combination of the fact that he keeps saying stupid things as well as the fact that most of the people who actually talk besides me despise his existence anyway.) He must like it, 'cause he keeps coming back for more. aiwebs_008

I thought it was a recent post, I saw that someone posted in this topic and I thought he just recently posted that.

Edit: Oh, nobody posted in it recently except for me. I guess I haven't looked at this topic in a few months then.

Sad

Most of the things I say are not "stupid", people just take them the wrong way.  Also, #metroid tends to get a bit nicer later in the night, when good conversations actually happen.  I actually sometimes do not talk at all, until someone starts flaming me for no reason whatsoever.  Also, this whole "Soap" joke----the fact that BioSpark thinks that I'm really an alternate account of Soap on a Rope----is getting older and more ridiculous by each passing day.  I use #metroid for relaxation, not as a way to let others attack me.

You're not nearly funny enough to be a soaponarope alt account, so I'm going to assume that Bio was being sarcastic.

The IRC sounds fun, maybe I'll come in more often.

This topic was just locked, but I don't see anything in the rules saying you can't do that (forgive me if I missed it, I have a nasty habit of missing important things).  Would it be alright if he had phrased the post differently, so it didn't seem like "Wikitroid is awesome, and oh yeah we need more contributors," but more "Hi, you guys seem to be pretty cool, have you heard of Wikitroid?  Yeah, the place needs a little help."  Or if that's still not okay, what about a little note in their signature?

I had thought that his wording was flattering enough for M2K2 to overlook any possible rule infringement.  Besides, this wikitroid seems pretty cool to me.

I think making a topic solely to solicit help for a different site is generally frowned upon.

Especially when said topic is full of outright lies about the people here being good knowledgeable editor types.

exactly the reason. i'm not sure if it's specifically stated in the forum rules, so it would be good to add it if it's not.

Doesn't look like anything is explicitly stated, but advertising is mentioned under "No Spam", so you might want to look into either adding something specific or just clarifying that point.

The Hacks / Fangames section clearly states that it is unacceptable as far as they're concerned, so it would make sense that the forum in general has it included.
