This has been bugging me. Which is faster? In the old escape shaft (I hope that's the correct term for it)...
Very fast Wall jumping and shooting the Space Pirates on the way up?
or
At the bottom- using a Power Bomb to make room for a Shine Spark charge, charge it up, then launching yourself upward through the platforms (next to the wall -usually)...?
I believe it's using a PB, Charging the SS, then up, up and away! :P
I'm not good at doing the wall jumping anyway.
Sorry I didn't make a movie of this. I didn't think it warranted a topic of it's own. If anyone knows or would like to find out and tell and/or post an smv... Feel free to.
That's a tough one, sure would need some frame advance using testings. The shinespark sounds faster but when you think about it it takes time to cool down and might be slower to open the door and get up from there, plus the charging.
Yeah, much has to be considered, walljumping can vary in speed from player to player on console, shinespark should be a bit faster in the end I think. Of course in a TAS though you could charge up without using a powerbomb but I'm not sure that's possible on console...
Oh so it is possible, only very hard. If you are a good stutter walk charger though it's quite easy and most certainly faster. I got it in a couple of tries but not consistent.
That answers your own question. :P Cpadolf is right. It would take some practice for those haven't learned what it takes to do it. I have messed around once, getting the feel for what it takes to charge it up. But I can't always be in that zone.
I'm not sure I have to answer this question (because surely it's known)... The PB is to remove the blocks that partition the Pirate Shaft ( ) from that short hall that leads from Tourian. With that extra room it's easier (for more people) to charge up the shine spark.
I have a good one. I know it is hard but it is possible. From the top right hand site of the landing site near the cave with the power bomb in it. and mockball into gauntlet and spring ball to the far end of the first gauntlet room. sorry if i'm a bit confusing but here is the link.
Was it the right link cause i was kinda in a rush. anyway you have to get to the other side of the first gauntlet room. I did it but just hoped the smv worked. Anyway i would upload the AVI but i left my flash drive at school. It took me about an hour. And i will let rerecords for this.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Sparking into a Yapping Maw crashes the game because something about sparking into the Yapping Maw clears the echoes AI (I'm guessing the Yapping Maw zeroes Samus's speeds which in turn clears blue suit behaviours), which is needed when Samus collides with a wall and the echoes need to circle around Samus in a particular way then fly off. Since the echoes AI isn't used aside from colliding with walls during sparks AFAIK, Yapping Maws should be otherwise safe.
That bug took me forever to debug when I first found it. I never did find out how to fix it though. >_>
It was just for getting back to the top of the landing site again so i didn't have to go all the way back every time I failed. Which as you can see happened quite a bit. I will try to make one without re-records now.
Was this inspired by Metroid Gravy? lol. If it could be done, that'd be amazing, but probably not in realtime. I'll give it a try.
Yep, SM_Gravy made me think of it. :) Since his attacks are only forward. Yet he does lumber a bit forward and back. And if it wasn't clear to anyone else... FTW = Kill Mini-Kraid by IBJing above him so that you don't gain any height.
I hope this can be done, unless the ceiling is too low and Samus would essentially bounce back downward after hitting it.
I can almost envision, you'd have to get hit to where you'd get knocked back towards (and ON) him, while temp invincible begin the IBJ.
hmm. above certainly would be easier than what i was trying. (bombing in front....) I'll try that now.
edit: tried. failed. I actually got it to work for a bit (read: three bombs), but the distance from him to the ceiling isn't very forgiving. a mall slip up and you hit the ceiling and miss the next bomb, a slip down and you take damage and fall to the ground.
