ok, i'm actually laughing right now. i dunno dude ... i don't like using any sort of terms like that because they're totally meaningless. i just play games, all types, and sometimes certain shit works in certain games and sometimes it doesn't. that's really all there is to it. so i like when developers experiment even when it doesn't turn it so great.

don't laugh at the player, laugh at the game, man.

seriously though, I think devs/publishers/whoever would benefit from ensuring we delightfully judgemental consumers don't buy the next thing with 'Metroid' written accross only to have payed £40 for their experiment gone wrong. Experimenting is good, it means that the audience end up with better, more polished final products, but you don't want devs to just throw a game out there and hope it works. Then we'll probably see more of what happened to Free Radical with Haze.

i actually love when that happens. taking chances is great, especially if it will make you money no matter what.

No big business was built on that mentality, they've only adopted one after getting big enough.

well no new business would be able to make money "no matter what"; of course it's only the big businesses with established reputations. not sure what your point is though.

not with their products. when you start out, you need to make sure your stuff is as good as possible so that people want it. when you get big, you expect people to buy your stuff, so you can release any old rubbish and make enough money to do it again next time. I guess I'm just verbalising a gripe I have with all the big players in the world. They all do it, Nintendo, Microsoft, Apple. They're in a position to release something bad because then people bitch and they can release the Upgraded Shit ProductTM.

Sony thinks it's in a position to do this after the PS2, but the PSPGo must've been a reality check.

well by taking chances i didn't mean "release something shitty intentionally". who would do that? i just meant i like it when developers try a new idea because they think it's cool. if it doesn't sell well it doesn't sell well but i like that they tried.

Wasn't Vista the "pure rewrite", or am I thinking 7? Cause the rewrite wasn't intentionally shitty.

they can test the waters with portable games... they spend less making then and portable games are easier to be accepted with gimmicky gameplay/story/aspects (like the camera control on MHPortable and MGS peace walker)

it's a good platform to work on if want to do something new...
and i am almost sure that a team ninja metroid will be made to the 3DS

Hey.  The cutscenes are not that bad.  Other M is very addicting to play.  I beat Fusion and I don't much care for it.  So I think Other M is way better than Fusion.  Fusion was the first and only Metroid game I got so mad at,  that I put it down for three months before I went back and finished it.

There were 3 MGS games with that camera system before Peace Walker. It was pretty tried-and-tested.

using another analog, not the face button...

There's a load of PSP action games that use the same camera system, and Portable Ops had an option to use the face buttons for camera controls. I'm just saying that Peace Walker was a bad example :P

>_>

You can skip them once you beat the game. You can't say that about fusion's long dialogues.

Peace Walker's camera is the least of its' problems.  Other M's camera is great IMO.  I've never had a problem with it.  Hopefully it'll teach Team Ninja to have better camera systems in their future games.

I didn't like that I couldn't see where I was going sometimes, when you have to go back down a tunnel, because the autoaim doesn't really aim at enemies that are offscreen.

I'm confused.  What does that have to do with Other M?

I'm talking about Other M, not peacewalker. The auto aim in Other M is shitty sometimes, especially when you're running down a corridor toward the camera and there are enemies ahead of you. Your auto aim won't hit them until they come on screen, usually close enough to Samus at that point that you can't just keep running forward but have to stop and shoot them or take damage.
