Well.. I found it from the gfx of Super Metroid, and I can't figure out what it is..
I checked out all the local palettes, but I still couldn't understand it.
Soo.. If You can see what it is, please tell me.
Thanks. :)

I rarely want pictures in forums to be larger, but could you provide a larger one?  I'm having a hard time seeing what's going on in the patches with the most colors.

If You're using Firefox, you can Zoom on it.
In case that you don't, Put it in Paint and zoom.
In case you don't have Paint, Put it on Picture Viewer and Zoom.
In case You don't have any kinds of Picture handling application, or in case you have a DOS, then I can't help you. Wink

Wouldn't surprise me if there's an extension that adds something like that. But as far as I know it's not possible without any extras.

Good job. But what exactly is the gold thing? Part of the statue room? And perhaps the last blocks are part of something else in the statue room?

Thanks Kej!

I think the bottom of the four is Phantoon's eye socket, and the other three are also parts of Phantoon. He is missing a chunk after all.

Actually, Not.
You see, the both sides of Phantoon's eyes are symmetric. So the developers thought that it will be easier to just make the right side, and make it mirror to it's horizontal axis. I could, of course be mistaken, correct me if I am.

And those little 8x8 Tiles are supposedly Ridley's eye tiles (?).

As you can see, it isn't reflected. Ridley's eye? maybe the third one. Perhaps those are the glowing eye sprites for Phantoon and Ridley?

Oh. Sorry.
And By the way, neither one of those are eyes.
I erased those from the game gfx totally, and went to the boss statue room.
There were only floating eyes. o_O
So this proves that those can't be eyes.

So the whole statue was gone EXCEPT the eyes? Hmmm... The entire statue is four separate sprites... each one of the four squares must be connected to a different boss statue. Would erasing a small area of a sprite cause the whole thing not to show up? Or are these some kind of master square thingys that control the whole sprite? Try deleting one at a time to see what happens. It seems strange how they were sitting in a corner by themselves in the original pic.

A bit of extra info:
The pic on the right is straight from the game, with all layers except the sprite layer disabled. Apparently, the Kraid and Draygon statues are not sprites.
The green stuff on the bottom is there in the game, too... I think it's just moss on the bottom of the statues. It looks a lot better in the game.

It seems that Ridley-Phantoon are sprites (as well as the goldish thing, which is the statue's base), and Kraid-Draygon are part of BG2.

Yup.
As for 8 Hours of trying to find something new from the gfx, I didn't find anything new. But I found a suspiciously strange part, which I think that is Draygon's body. I'll change Codecs, Make some Row-Interleaving, and some pixel dithering, and see what I'll find.
Right now I cannot do that. I'll go to sleep now, and continue tomorrow. Until then, bye.

About the only noteworthy thing I've seen was pointed out to me by Ultima, it was a bit of katakana that spelled 'Obakeen', which I'm guessing was Phantoon's original/beta name that was changed for no apparent reason.
I don't remember where in the rom it was, though. Sorry. :/

I think I've seen some kind of a Japanese Character while searching for Kraid..

If any more Japanese characters show up post them. Its my understanding that at least a few of the board members [including myself] can read japanese, it may give us more insight into the programming.

You're aware that even the US version of Super Metroid has japanese text (it's even a frickin' selectable option in the Options menu)...

...Right?
