So, for my first run, I had 3:44 with 51%. Good or bad for first try?
I would say good. Depends how much exploring you did; when I first play a 'troid game, I explore without even considering my time, so I usually get six hours or more. There are no real standards for a first try. Besides, beating Fusion at all is something to be proud of -- most of us find it easy now, but it's murder the first time through. I suggest playing normally a couple more times before you start working on your time.
But yeah, I tried as much exploring as possible, and searching around for those secret spots with hidden weapon tanks and such. But the whole deal was waiting around to return to one of the six lower areas after I had a new upgrade, and forgetting where I saw a secret tank and such. But yeah, I'll definitely play it again.
Good god i hate nightmare so much. so so so so so so so so so so so so much. Makes me never want to do a 1% run again, this first time may be my last... think ill just aim for sub 2 hour 100%.
My first play through Fusion had about 10 hours on it, I really did like to explore and kill enemies and practice techniques and stuff. My following few playthroughs were shorter, then I started messing with cheat codes, then I found this site, then I tried for under 2 hours, never even considered time until I saw the speedruns
Definitely a very high 50. In fact, I was quite surprised to see 50 instead of 51. I got the eight items Biospark got in his :48 plus the energy tank before Yakuza (yeah, I'm a wimp).
I started this run probably about a year ago and picked it up again a few days ago with a 0:32 save at the ship. I got the :50 by playing from that 0:32 to the end.
wow, good job tying the old record. not many people can get times as low as :50. did you actually need the energy tank? it sounds like your run wasn't ss.
I took maybe 10 segments or so to get to the ship in 0:32 and then played from the 0:32 to the end without saving. Umm...I don't think I ever went under 100 health, but I tend to take a lot of damage (due to recklessly speeding through the game without knowing it super well), which is why I grabbed the extra tank. I could skip it and definitely would if I played from the 0:32 to the end in segments.
I'd kinda like to get a 0:49, but I think I'd have to start a new run to do that.
...yeah, not likely. After watching your 0:48, I definitely can't imagine anyone doing it 2 minutes faster on console. I have a hard enough time imagining a segmented 0:47 with each save taking 10 seconds. (Saves do take about 10 seconds in this game, right?)
not likely because you can only have two missiles on the screen at a time. yes, saves take a lot of time. if i were to do a segmented run, it would have as few saves as possible.
thats a maybe...and a big maybe as i was barely able to complete the above. I shall try though... i found out after trying for a couple days i lack the patience...
i seem also to have hit a wall on my speed times... latest run: 1:03 (6%)
completed my 1% speedrun...the time is not phenomenal...but i cut 12 min off my previous...and am only 5 min above my best time.
if you get :49 then i'll get :47. of course i have to do my 1% run first. >_>
I'm not sure there's any point in getting a :47 segmented any% if you do a 1% ss :47 first.
I forget, at the end of ARC, once you get back to the first room, do you shinespark up to the door or jump off the ladders? I'm thinking shinesparking up there could save half a second. >_>
Ah, I see. I just figured the damage canceling might cut enough time to make it faster at least in ARC2, but I guess the stopping to crouch and stopping to spark cost time, too.
Also I can't seem to get double-core-x shots anymore. It seems like missile cool-off time takes too long. Is there some kind of trick to firing faster?
