fascinating. assuming i can get those working, would you mind if i featured you on metroid2002.com? actually, were you planning on doing this run again to fix your mistakes from last time?
Sure ago ahead. That'd be pretty cool actually. Assuming you can get them working :P Just the right version of VBA ought to do the trick, I suppose. Otherwise I could make a ghastly ammount of AVIs instead. And that would suck ^^;;;
Yeah, I was planning on doing this again. Hopefully I won't screw up some of the bosses as bad.
maybe i'll waste some hella time later and give you pointers on your run. not that watching your run is a waste of time or anything, just have hella other crap i'm supposed to be doing.
ouch, it broke on the very first vid, on the way out of q.bay. though i only have 1.6a, so i'll try upgrading to 1.7something or other and see what happens.
challenge. Seriously, i think i beat Ridley in less than five minutes, which is really fast for me.
I also find that the wave beam worked alot better on Ridley than the missiles.
You can kill Ridley in a minute or less. Don't waste your missiles on him. Pummel him with charged Wave shots. He'll die so fast you'll almost pee your pants. That's how pathetically funny it is. BTW does anyone have any tips on killing Nightmare faster?
Phase One, where he has his mask on and shoots a ton of lasers. When you first enter the room, don't go near the wall or anything. Stand right underneath where he will appear and charge your Plasma Beam. Start shooting him. He might hover up and down, hitting you, but who cares? Take the hit, it's not much damage. Eventually, after hitting it enough, it'll start flashing and Nightmare will slowly move toward the right-side of the room.
Phase Two, Nightmare looses his mask. Climb up on the wall somewhere to a point where you can shoot missiles straight at his face and damage him. Now, don't shoot missiles one at a time and wait for the ice blast to disappear. Murder the fire button. Launch as many missiles at his face as you can. When he starts getting really close to you, just keep shooting. Him touching you doesn't inflict enough damage to raise concern. Now you're going to have to space jump around the room because Nightmare starts moving fast, trying to slam into you. My trick is to hover near the top of the room. When he comes at you, drop down and go to the lower-left corner of the room. Hopefully he'll stop chasing you and start shooting lasers again. At this point, climb on the wall and unload missiles into his face.

That's where it breaks in 1.7 too :(
Impressive, even though you're out of synch, you still manage to beat the first form of the SAX :)
My best time for 100% is only around 1:47. My best tme for a 1% run is 1:22 (just finished that file earlier today). I could possibly knock that down to 1:21, since my battle with SA-X and Omega Metroid took longer than usual due to a few screw-ups on my part.
Oh, and the quickest way i've found to knock Nightmare into phase 2 (without taking any damage, btw) is to space jump back and forth at the top left area until he appears. When he hovers up, space jump under him and fire a charged shot at the generator. Get back to the top of the screen, then do it again. The second time the generator's hit, it'll turn on. Now, since you're right under him and he's all the way at the top of the screen (and descending very, very slowly), all you have to do to destroy the generator is fire a few charged shots upwards. Then, right as the generator starts flashing, you can get on the ladder and prepare to unleash a charged shot plus 10-15 missiles into his face. :) I've got this down to a science (considering i've done it probably 50+ times due to the amount of times i've died later in the battle). Should take no more than 20 seconds to pull off.
Considering that it will probably end up being one of the best times, what ever happened to Sess's 1% Showmanship Run?
I know he said he wanted to keep up interest by releasing a new vid every once in a while, but it's been quite a while now.
I know how hard it can be to pick up a game, let alone an ambitious run like 1%, No Damage, after having left it for so long and in the middle no less. Anyway, just curious.
He's picked it up again reciently, but PYR is giving him a lot of grief. He may have to settle for slightly less than perfect on it, since there's so much random stuff going on.

I'm new to these boards. I can usually be found at GameFAQs.
Anyway, here are my times.
100% - 1:15 I got this a few days ago. 1% - 0:58 I got this several weeks ago.
Both of these where done by GB SP. I've never tried an any% run.
have you considered taping yourself (using a gbp) doing a new 100% (perhaps shaving off a minute or two) and sending it to me so you can be world-famous? that's the world record for 100% afaik.
