How did Mother-brain manage to live after the overgrown metroid larva was done draining the life out of it? It became a dried color, suggesting it was a just a dried up shell, like any other enemy the metroid's finished feeding off of. How did Mother-brain manage to recover from being drained of all life? Auxiliary power? I know it was done just for a plot device but it seems pretty unrealistic, it's not like mother-brain was still attached to any kind of machinery.

Perhaps the body had life support measures implemented, and they rescuscitated her somehow, or perhaps she just played possum, and was able to shut down all mental activity, which made her seem 'dead', since she's just a brain.

MB probably didn't have all of her energy drained, only enough to make her "unconscious". Then while Samus was getting her health back, MB probably regained her consciousness again. Also remember that not everything in a game makes sense.

Servin' you realness!!
Perhaps the metroid simply made a fatal mistake in thinking mother brain was dead.

Or perhap it felt it would be more fitting for you to punish Mother Brain, so it left her on minimal life, like it did with Samus moments earlier.

The Super Metroid didn't punish Samus ! When it was sucking her life, it was because he didn't recognize her !

I think Quietus meant when Samus is defenseless after the eye blast from Motherbrain and you can't move. You have just enough health to stay alive, but not enough to take another blast from MB.

So, the larva was not only expecting to die, but provoking it?

Prime Hunter : Oh...yeah, that make sense.

MetroidJunkie : That's exact. He knew that he was going to die, so he protect you before doing so.

No, I didn't say the Metroid punished Samus.  I said that it left you on minimal health, and perhaps thought it would deliberately do the same to Mother Brain, as it felt it might be more fitting for Samus to punish Mother Brain, rather than killing her itself.

I disagree heavily with this. The Metroid looks at Samus as its mother, as shown in the intro. Knowning this, ask yourself what you would do if you saw your mother getting wtfbbqpwnt by some ugly douche bag, especially when you "walk" in on it, so to speak. I would personally grab anything within reach and proceed to beat down the person that was abusing/killing my mother. I would also, depending on her current state, lose control and kill that person and then continue to beat a dead body for however long the rush lasts. I def would not sit there and say, "Ok, your almost dead, hey mom, you alive? Wanna finish pwning this nub?!"

And for the reason why the Metroid attacks Samus in the first place is obvious enough, it didn't recongnize her at first, and then is ashamed of itself due to the noises it makes after releasing Samus. Doh.

I was expecting a 'urmom' joke, but it never came. Crying or Very sad

And I did say perhaps...  It's only an idea, and isn't gospel.

I reckon the truth is that the Metroid didn't see tha point in killing Mother Brain, because it knew you'd TAS the scenario, and would skip it all anyway. Razz

Maybe the Metroid mother brain as its second ''mommy'' because she did after all, clone metroids. It may have then did the same thing it did to samus since it didnt recognize MB cause she was a GIANT FREAKING ROBOT (kidding) and not just a head. >.> SIMPLE!!

I doubt the Metroid viewed Mother Brain as its 'mommy', because the idea of the story was that it was the larva that Samus took originally, hence it's choosing not to kill Samus, so it wasn't a clone.

Also, major bumpage around here lately... =)

Yes but there may have been a kind of subliminal relation that the metroid had with mother brain. Or the metroid had become MBs ally because after all, after the ridley fight the metroid tank was broken in two, if the metroid wasnt MBs ally, why didnt it kill ridley????? Then the metroid probably didnt recognize MB cause she was a GIANT FREAKING ROBOT :O. Then the metroid recognize MB at the last minute. And MB got pissed and killed metroid. And saw that Samus was weakened and gave the energy it absorbed from MB to samus.
